Echo Arena, not a safe venue.

A ban on drink could be possible but I doubt that the arena would go along with it. If they can get over 10,000 drinking at the fight, that's a massive source of income for them. I think they'd just tell the promoter to pay for additional security, which wouldn't solve the problem like removing drink would, but as long as they're making money, I think they'd be happy.

You're right though, there'd be a **** atmosphere at the fight. Fury's fans are constantly getting into **** and as we've seen recently, the Scousers are classless. A few Mancunian fans and you have the recipe for a huge problem. All it takes is one drunk idiot to turn up with a knife, and British boxing takes the hit.

Sadly it can happen at any fight and you can be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Some fights i have been to and it has kicked off for next to no reason and sadly innocent people get hurt not the pissed up idiots being brave in a group.

Went to wembley last year to cheer on Theophane against Daws small group of us sitting near Daws fans they knew we were cheering Ashley on but no bother at all. They were loud enjoying the evening and a couple of them were talking to us afterwards it helped we were respectfull.

To be fair a spider making a web in the corner of the ring could of stolen the show from that fight.

I agree with what your saying, is a shame that I couldn't take a girlfriend, our dad, a date etc.... to a fight and enjoy it as you'd always be wondering when its going to kick off.

    Cheers for all replies fellas.

I need to further this point, I have been to most big venues in country and been in many heated atmospheres but the Echo is a breeding ground for ****s and bad behaviour. Nottingham for Froch v Dirrell and Pascal were both good night and we were able to drink but they were on it security wise and drinks were prohibited into venue whereas the Echo has people taking drinks in willy nilly. Chisora v Haye was a Millwall v West Ham atmosphere yet no trouble but still the Echo tops it.

It needs to be look at deeper. Sniffer dogs around arena searching punters as they line up. No drunks allowed in as you'd expect in a nightclub. No drinks in arena and foyer only (if at all, those ferral *******s need to go in dry) and absolutely no tolerance to bad behaviour. My uncle is an I.T Consultant and a chilled bloke, he went in the bogs with me and we were greeted with a sniffed up dude pudding straight into the sinks where hands are meant to be washed. I mean is there no ****ing manners? My uncle was in disbelief and vowed never again, great stuff you Echo ****s cos I had no crowd to take to Froch v Bute and missed a cracking fight.

Anyway back to topic. Things have to change because I have seen many fights there and that big scrap I mentioned was a bloke getting stamped on his head from guy in next row above. Absolutely crazy and god forbid a tragedy happens. Does it really need this to happen before they learn? Until they prove themselves fit to handle louts they need to do what I said and more, liasing with police to ban trouble makers and hoolies that are known to the police is a good start.

If things stay as they are, its a matter of time before we say R.I.P, god forbid that line gets a bump.

Btw, Fury v Price would be at Anfield imo. Only other venues would be M.E.N that's big enough but with Maloney offering purse its Prices back yard. A great neutral venue would be Birmingham N.I.A or LG Arena aka N.E.C but out the way for all the fans. I guarantee there'll be trouble at that card.

i went to the david haye-john ruiz fight at the MEN arena, a good few fights broke out there. the first one during the undercard fight between ajose oluseegun and colin lynes.
jim watt actually said, on the sky tv coverage, that the crowd were booing the lack of action, they were not, they were booing the large number of police that were heading towards the trouble.
another fight broke out as john ruiz was entering the ring, the security were nowhere to be seen, put me right off going to live boxing events.
in my book, its the alcohol thats the problem, when the main events starting at about 11.30, and people have been drinking from 6, or sometimes all day, its just asking for trouble, especially at a boxing match.
and they took my mars bar off me at the enterance, but yet let you take pints into the arena, go figure.

I thought last night was fine, seen the one fight in the stands during the Dickinson fight but these things happen at the boxing. If a few lads are sniffing a bit of beak in the bogs it doesn't effect me at all so I don't know why anyone would care, each to their own.

Scousers are not violent/aggressive in general. Fury vs Price would be a difficult card to police but end of the day the vast majority of the crowd would be respectful

Never been to the echo good mate of mine that goes to a lot of boxing shows has told me previously you have to be on guard there security seems to turn a blind eye to the obvious behaviour you & others have witnessed.

Sometimes it's a case of picking & choosing which fights to go to domestic rivalries you are obviously going to have a fair few idiots attending Fury v Price at the Echo would be asking for trouble. The hype would go through the roof.

Shame but correct me if im wrong we have had massive fights like Lewis v Bruno,Benn v Eubank etc without anything kicking off but this one would attract some real tools.

People get wound up casual fans football chanting etc but go back to when Hagler cut Minter to ribbons real nasty crowd at wembley that night throwing bottles into the ring & fighting each other as no Hagler fans to fight!:-(

I'm not gonna lie, I've been to 2 boxing events in my life.

Once to see Ricky Hatton in London. & once to see the lotto lout fight Rinho at the York Hall. I've never been so uncomfortable in my life. I couldn't wait to get out of both arenas.

I love boxing, and id love to go more, but I know I won't enjoy it.

I don't think any venue is safe when there is alcohol on sale. I f*cking hate the stuff, the devils drug.

The promoters could curb it and stop it all. But they won't. They make money and thats all it is about. 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 people getting thrown out means f*ck all, they can throw them out, it don't change ****, as long as there are zombies on every seat and they are paying for more at the venue. They don't give a sh*t.

i guess unfortunately **** will go down at boxing for a long long time.
Your gunna get the pissed up take the world on types at most venues throughout the country simply because boxing ..like football...can be tribal,,,,when groups of pissed up young blokes supporting a fighter/or area bump into thier opponants and get a bad case of **** talking/we're harder than you type bollox.Alcohol is prob the main cause of aggro...you can take that away....you can never however take away young mens desire to fight and "act hard"...especially in this country.................i ran with a football firm for 15 years and can personally and regretably relate to this mentality.

thankfully im outta that ****,and so are most of mi mates....but as one older lad goes....a younger guy comes along....its a relentless conveyorbelt of ****
    only being honest chaps

If people want to fight they will fight.

I enjoy having a few drinks before the fight and inside the venue, I dont get off my face because I like to remember the fight and I dont get into fights because I'm not a dickhead. Drinking can defiantly make the night a bit better.

Why should the thousands of people like me get punished?
