Briggs didn't win anything.

Though Foreman didn't represent it too well in terms of opposition after beating Moorer.

 

Lineal title, especially with the Ring's recent rule changes for lineal titles plus overall questionable ranking decisions, lineal title means nothing more than what each fan individually views.

At this point, being "the best guy" regardless of paper trail means more. Plenty of people think Huck/Ross/Afolabi/Lebedev are better than YPH, that Matthysse is better than Garcia, and that a whole slew of flyweights are better than Igarashi.

At one point in time Armstrong was the consensus best from FW-WW, that's astonishing, not because of his lineal titles, but because he was the best fighter in 3 of the 8 divisions.

Some people say linearity traces back to 1 v 2, some say otherwise, it's all subjective, like almost all of boxing.

What's important is not what title a man holds, but whether that man is the best of the bunch of people holding titles in that division.

 

It's time for Donaire to step up to the FEATHERWEIGHTERS. Sick and tired of him fighting these scared bums who wont fight.Guys like Gamboa, De leon, Salido will not be afraid to bring it. Pacquiao met some stern opposition up @ 126.If Donaire is legit that's where he would go.

BTW Rigobum is another of these bums that will shell up in the square circle.

 

I dont see how Montiel wasn't the lineal/undisputed champ at 118. Ciso Morales, Hasegawa, then Concepcion. Montiel was on an absolute tear before he faced Donaire.
