he 'could' be dead weight, his fan base is small and a loss would be very hurtful to his fan base growth right now. Having him fight nobodies is bad but he's fighting easy fight and winning and making money some keeping him doing that isn't harmful to riggy or TR. When they are ready they will chose there time and let riggy get the big fights. He's still young a little time padding us his resume and moving him up slowly isn't bad as long as they don't do it too long. Manny just lost to bradley and bradley didn't get the stardom and manny was hurt by the loss and bob probably don't want the same thing to happen to donaire because of riggy.
Arum and his Top Rank honchos know very well Rigondeaux is NOT in the class of Donaire. He would lose badly to Nonito. Only hype train riding fans think otherwise. They signed Rigo and promised him Donaire, but they need to develop Rigo as a viable attraction. They already made a mistake putting Bradley in against Pac too soon, and it bit them in the butt. They can't have Rigo lose to Donaire and become completely insignificant. Boxing is all about great matchmaking. Donaire has yet to perform on a PPV and they need to match him against popular Mexican fighters, the same way Pacquiao was matched up against Barrera, Morales and Marquez.
Rigondeaux is already largely insignificant thanks to Top Rank's non-promoting of him, and the company has displayed very little interest in actually doing anything to develop him as a viable attraction. The Pacquiao-Bradley situation is completely disanalogous to the this as well and I have no idea why either of you are bringing it up.
I think Melindo have better competition to date but they actually have the same style (technically sound) with Cuello just having that tremdous power. I also think that 100 pnd guys will never see the limelight.
