Mayweather Vs. Bundrage OR Alvarez Vs. Bundrage Be honest. I'll bet SHO could sell the Alvarez fight on PPV where as a Mayweather fight Vs. K-9 would be HBO championship boxing at best.
Well, Canelo v K-9 would be far more competitive so you may be right about it being PPV worthy...with a solid undercard. Money-Bundrage would be one-sided but it would still be PPV because people would still pay to see what Floyd's got left after the layoff...even against Bundrage. Not to mention that Floyd can sell a fight, even a bad one, better than anyone in the business. My answer: Money-Bundrage. People will pay just to see if Floyd is still the same guy after the jail sentence and layoff(remember the Marquez fight) and I can't see them doing this fight without good undercard.
As much as Canelo vs. K9 is the more intriguing fight, Mayweather vs. K9 out sells it. There's just no substitute for brand recognition. Edit: I didn't realize we were talking live gate only.
This isn't about ppv its tickets, I don't think floyd could sell out a 90,000 stadiu$, where as I think canelo can.
I think Alvarez can definitely sell more tickets than Mayweather Vs. the same opponent in this case (Bundrage). I might even go as far and say Alvarez Vs. Bundrage would outsell a Mayweather Vs. Bundrage PPV.
I don't think canelo can out sell mayweather ppv, but as for tickets. Canelo would outsell him, canelo has 'real' fans, that actualy go and watch him fight. That's my thinking anyway.
As a SoCal native, I can attest that Mexican fight fans will support a live card. Just look at The Home Depot Center on Saturday night. And most of that crowd was there for an undercard fighter. You put Canelo in an arena with some decently priced tickets and it will sell out. He's sold out Staples on the night of another PPV card.
