After re-watching the Rios-Alvarez fight...Rios dominated.

He didn't dominate ****.

One round (4 or 5?) Alvarado outlanded him on the outside and inside and Rios looked really bad and I was expecting it to turn real bad and ugly for him.

 

Now Fred-deh, would you have felt that way had it been Rios?

Knowing you as I do, it would have been something along the lines of he's a warrior and should have been allowed to go out on his shield, or the Mexican blood in his feet would have made it impossible for his azz to have touched the canvas or something.

 

na man...in a fight like that you have to go with your gut, and the amount of punishment they've already taken.....both are young, and have children...no need for serious injury

 

Weak jabs? They are decieving.. especially his right hand...

Alvarado had some clear rounds.. atleast two.. I don't call that a domination.

when i got home to watch it live, i was sure that rios was gonna have his face ripped apart.....dude barely had a ****en bruise....crazy ****er

 

Nah. Very even until the 6th and Rios took over. HBO were putting too much stock into Alvarado's "boxing ability" on the outside when really he would have sucess for about 7 seconds or so and it would be back to Rios chopping him down on the inside.

 

You got me confused for a second with the Alvarez Alvarado .
The fight was close, I think mike was ahead by 1 rd

I had Alvarado slightly ahead, doing the better boxing and out-jabbing Rios. Although I was rooting for Alvarado, I do agree with the stoppage. Mike looked out on his feet. He wasn't defending himself at all.

I couldn't believe Rios face was unmarked except for swelling under one eye. The kid was taking bombs in there! He's got that tough skin like Chavez Sr.

 

The stoppage was certainly fair imo. I can't really argue with anyone saying Alvarado could have been given a few more seconds but it wasn't a bad stoppage at all.

That said, Rios DID NOT win 5 rounds of the fight. There is simply no way you can give him that many, regardless of what criteria you use (unless it's taking really hard punches to the face). Rios won 3 rounds max, and that's being generous. I think i gave him 2.

 

I don't agree it was a domination by Rios, but I do agree with the stoppage. Alvarado didn't seem to be properly defending himself at the time of the stoppage.. Should have taken a knee, but I didn't expect him to.

 

Both men were giving and taking. Rios was more physical. Alvarado had more ring generalship and owned space. I actually thought Alvarado was finding his rhythm the round before he was stopped. Neither of these guys dominated. Rounds could be scored either way.

I thought Rios' use of that short hook to mess up the timing of the shoulder roll was interesting. Mayweather?
