Ali and Foreman today. Could they be as effective weighting 15-20 pounds more?

If a young Cassius Clay was fighting today in 2012, it is very hard to imagine him not adding at least 10-20 pounds to his 6'3 frame. Could he had been as effective? Or MORE effective?

Young George Foreman today at 6'4, would have been as big as maybe 235-240. Obviously at age 24-29, he won't have been a fat 235-240, it will be mostly muscles.

I actually think a 70's Foreman in today's era weighting 240+ pounds of muscles will tear apart everyone.

Ali? I'm not so sure the added weight would have been better, but maybe it will help against Wladimir.

If you add that weight, they ain't the same fighters.

In the form they were in at their best, they'd kick ass at HW today. Theres skill and amateur pedigrees at HW, but the guys are so big they lack speed.

Clay could outbox everybody, and George could KO everybody.

    Foreman destroys everybody, I agree.

Ali would have been slower of hand and feet but would have still been faster than every fighter today.

I'm not so sure about George and 'not being as effective' weighting more.
If you look at the prime version of Foreman. He is a perfect 6'4 240+ muscle fighter in today's era. What does he do that he need to be as light as he was?
Imagine a Prime Foreman vs Wladimir? George is only giving up 2 inches in height, if he gets his weight to 235-240 how will that negatively effect his style?
When was the last time George 'danced' and bob/weaved?

A heavier version of young Foreman will literally just walk Wladimir down. So how will being lighter help him?

Ali. With all his movement and speed/reflexes, I can see him not being as effective if he weighted more today/

I don't think they need weights, but a good strength and conditioning program based on advanced calesthenics or kettleballs, or both, as well as a pylometric program would make them better fighters.

Too much empahasis is put on weights. They would be better to master their own bodyweight.

Ali basically was a heavier version of Cassius Clay tho a tadbit slower of feet, but still fast hands and much wiser. Foreman was a flatfooted stalker, but one who could explode at any moment and throw ounches in bunches. As history shows, yes, both would have been successful today, tho I think 90's Foreman might have lost decisions to both Klitschko bros.

Why add the weight? Both fighters where adept fighting in the inside as well from the outside.

Ali/Clay would just snipe ALL of the current fighters today. Foreman would just crack the jaw of any fighter via counters. The impressive physique of today's fighters does not match their technical and ring IQ skills with few exceptions. And those exceptions are not good enough to beat Ali or Foreman.

What's all this obsession with a hwts size? It's boxing guys not weightlifting or bodybuilding. Boxing history is full of huge men being totally devastated by quicker more skilled fighters. Great talent trumps size anytime. Ali and Foreman prime would walk through the hwts of today because none of them can fight a lick.

Foreman at 240+ was visibly fat and wasn't terribly effective against stellar competition.

Are you ******ed or just trying to be? You trying to be like the articulate non robotic version of Vladimir23?

A 45 year old fat ass foreman carrying 240 of fat is totally the same as a 26 year old Prime Foreman bulking up to 240 of muscles right?

He's ******ed. Sad thing is fat Foreman still fought better fighters than his hero Vitaly. Prime, jacked Foreman cleans out today's sad division.
