I love JMM, but what has he done to merit being top 5 P4P?

The thing with Marquez is he has awesome skill, and aside from his very first fight being a DQ; all his losses are disputable decisions, except the Mayweather fight. And in that fight, the catch is that it was his first time up to WW, and Mayweather came in way overweight anyway.

the man's never had a fair and decisive loss.

    i think he should be #5-6 p4p

Too inactive? Marquez has been boxing twice a year over the past how many years. This is classed as active.

He has been more active than Mayweather. And he has been boxing as regularly, or almost as regularly as the other mentioned names. :think

    This.

    But lost to him once.

    No shame in that, though.

    :good

Juan is a good puncher but it's really those combinations that brought about his high KO percentage, which happens to be slightly higher than the 'explosive' Manny Pacquiao, for example. JMM makes use of absolutely everything he has.

What I meant was active at top level...since his loss to PBF hes fought Diaz, Ramos, Fedchenko, war torn Katsidis. Not exactly a great level of competition. In the same time Floyd has beaten Mosely, Ortiz and Cotto. I dont think anyone can really justify putting him above Mayweather, Ward, Pac, Donaire or Martinez.

Youre talking about a close to 40 year old featherweight knocking out the young lions at 135 and then losing a controversial loss to the #1 p4p welterweight champion?

    two points
    1) he probably has a 1-1-1 record against pacquiao or better
    2) Mayweather is way more inactive than Marquez

Fair enough, but they're past prime fighters on a different level to Katsidis and Floyd didnt go life or death with em either.

Dont know how anyone can have Marquez above Martinez, Donaire etc
