but first...should he go ahead and fight Erik? Should Morales get the belt if he wins? If Garcia get's badly hurt on this fight, who is liable if there is one? what do you guys think???
No it won't. Result B has nothing to do with his skills or abilities. What about all the people who lost to cheating mayweather?? Do none of them count? Let's ask bladegunner.
Clenbuterol means nothing. If Morales wins its a legit win, it doesn't make you superman. Like being suspended for Marijuana. Dumb. Small increase in oxygen, is a cousin of albuterol an inhaler for asthma patients ffs.
Isn't that similar to what Panama Lewis gave Aaron Pryor, instantly reviving him and enabling him to beat Arguello?
Ahhhh come on, gents. I like Morales and all, but this can't be excused. If Morales wins, it'll still be an impressive feat (considering clenbuterol doesn't make you superman like you say), but it'll still be tainted and rightfully so. It's not fair for one person to make weight and prepare the correct way, whilst the other one cuts corners and attempts to enhance himself (however small it may be).
First they fight, then the B sample and when Morales beats him they will probably have a third fight because no way can Morales dominate him. It will be a close fight.
If Morales had won the first time, would that victory be more or less tainted than if he wins on Saturday? Do you think the decision to simply not choose to make weight altogether is more acceptable than being caught with a banned substance?
Good question, because I gave Morales a pass for not bothering to make the weight last time. A practically shot legend who's hanging with guys he shouldn't be. Ah well, we'll let him off. He's prepared to give up the belt and pay a fine. So no big deal. But I guess this case is a little different as, not only is he attempting to take the belts and avoid being punished, but the drug he used may have additional benefits, too. So I'd say a win in the first fight would be slightly "less tainted".
Yeah it's something I've kind of been struggling with as well. I think I also gave him a pass in the first fight because he had health problems prior to it as well which may have limited his ability to make weight. This time I'm more bothered because he boasted about making weight and because he was the one who needlessly invoked the rematch clause.
Oh, ok. I didn't know he was boasting about that. I've just edited my post to add that, at least in the first fight, he gave up his chance to win the belt and was made to pay a fine for it. This time round, he's tried to cut corners deceptively with the hope of noone finding out - and thus claim the belts and avoid a fine. It's less forgiveable.
I should qualify my statement until I find a direct quote. Articles in The Ring and Scene have said he insisted he'd make weight this time, which was what I was referring to, but the only direct quotes I've found at the moment have him saying he had a great training camp and is healthier than he was last time. I think you're right though about the deception issue. People often downplay diuretics in comparison to other PEDs, but given how "who can healthily rehydrate the most" has become a bigger determinant of who wins fights, I think castigation is a completely valid response.
