Agree with Stevie and Senor Pepe. Norton won the 1st fight, though outside the broken jaw it wasn't an ass kicking. Actually somewhat close fight. The second fight was the most exciting, and I think Ali won it by winning the 12th round. The third fight was back and forth, but having seen it a few times now I still think Ken was simply more aggressive, landed more blows, and I think won 9 rounds. Hardly an ass kicking though. If you do watch the fight on YouTube it cuts off right at the final bell. What isn't shown is that Ken jumped up with his arms in the air and was lifted up by his corner, certain he had won, while Ali somewhat had his head dejected. When the decision was announced Norton had a look of shock on his face, while Ali somewhat humbly walked back to the dressing room.
1st fight was a 12 rounder Kenny won the first fair and square Ali won the 2nd fair and square Ali won the 3rd that coulda went either way There was no 'ass-kicking'
I see the Ali nuthuggers are out in force to defend their hero. In the world of the delusional Ali nuthugger, a missed jab from Ali counts for more than 3 solid power punches landed by Norton. That's how you have to score the third fight to give Ali the win or even a draw.

Why are these fights coming up so much lately? Not sure if I commented on threads like these recently but here's my take. Norton won the first of course by a comfortable margin but I would not really call that a whipping as Ali had his moments but he just look very uninterested. Norton did what he had to do and broke his jaw in the process but that's always a weird fight to look at at least for me. The second had good movement from Ali and solid infighting many times from both. This is the best fight to gauge how Prime Ali would've handled Norton but not the clear determining factor. Ali was focused for once and only in the trilogy to try to avenge his loss. The sharpest he looked too. The third had too much reluctance from Ali and again he looks unfocused. He looked like he'd rather chill in a bubble bath smoking a cigar than fight. Norton shot himself by giving away rds but still I felt like he deserved the decision. Felt like he still should asserted himself more as Ali looked the worse in the trilogy. Neither "whippings" but 1 & 2 are interesting fights. Don't care much for the last fight. Think Norton always would've troubled him but not as much as he did if Norton fought a pre-Exile Ali. 64-67.
I agree with Rusak. Ali's missed jabs are counted as points by so many people. Earnie Shavers blocked his jab all night, and he too got jobbed in NYC.
I agree. The second fight is the only one that was really close. and Kenny probably shoudve got that one as well. I wont call the second fight a robbery but the third one was.
From 1976 on Ali missing jabs was "outboxing" his opponent. His jab was just a flick at that point in his career.
No way in hell did Kenny "lose handily" in the 2nd fight. I had Ali winning by 1 round, and just barely.
Everything wil be alright. First, go back and take a look at the post I quoted. Nowhere will you find any allusion to anyone saying Norton got his ass kicked. Second, take a deep breath. Kenny will be okay with it. You should too.
