I like him and I think he is very talented, In my opinion he is still undefeated, because at least the very worst he deserved against Groves was a draw. I had him winning that fight, but anyhow, **** happens. But I think DeGale will be his own downfall unfortunately, I don't think he takes it seriously and thinks he'll get by everyone in second gear. Chris Eubank hit the nail on the head with him years ago. If he keeps his head down and starts to learn he may prove lots wrong. But if he goes on like he has done previously, he won't make it at the big time. Of recent he seems to be a little more grown up. Some will say its a bluff for the media, some will say its genuine. We'll have to wait and see. Personally, I want to see DeGale do good, whether he wants to or not, is another story.
He's already found his level & wont go far beyond where he is now without making major changes & improvements. It'll be a minor miracle if he ever wins a world title
I dunno about that, i think he has the ability to be a world champion. But he seems carried away with himself, and almost like he has already "made it"...... What do you think about that?
I hated DeGale when I saw his first fight but became a fan once he got his act together. I also thought he edged Groves who won by the closest possible margin on the cards! However, I don't rate his trainer and it seems that they're together because they're mates and both Arsenal fans. I'd much prefer to see DeGale move across London to work with Jimmy and Mark Tibbs. DeGale is seriously talented but I'm not convinced he's got the best team around him to get him all the way to the top.
As already mentioned DeGale needs to improve, he goes to sleep in fights, he is to easy hit, tends to slap I think, and lacks power. But he does have a lot of talent IMO he was inactive for to long but he has had a difficult start to his career but despite that he has only lost to Groves in a fight I thought he won. I could see deGale in world title fights if he knuckles down now and addresses his weaknesses I think people have been to quick to right him off, and I would love to see him prove people wrong, because he has the talent IMO.
With the current team he has then certainly not. He has the natural talent but natural talent will only get you so far. It's easy to accuse the trainer, but in this instant I think Jim has taught all he can. He needs someone else to take him to the next level
might win a title if one becomes vacant and he gets a **** opponent. Won't be beating any of the top guys at the moment.
Im pretty sure he has a good chin which will come in handy. He's to fundamentally flawed if you ask me. To many errors. He neglects his defence when throwing punches, he hangs his chin out, he doesn't turn his hooks over, he's still slapping. He's getting beat handily when he steps up to world class. Best chance he has is to change trainers, and quickly.
I dont see him improving & he's having tough fights with his current level of opposition. When he steps up in class all his glaring flaws will become even more obvious. He does not have the fundamentals to win a world title imo
Eubank made that claim when he hadn't even laid eyes on De Gale, because he'd netted around a million pound for winning Olympic Gold, nothing to do with his ability
What i think De Gale can achieve, and what i think he will achieve are 2 different things How far he goes depends on various factors, but his own personal development is the biggest factor IMHO
