The answer is yes and no. More often than not, it is no. Taking PED's has no direct link to improving skills, it is all down to the individual and how receptive they are to actually learning skills. If a person who can learn and implement a skill quickly, the extra time in training can benefit said person massively. But not everyone can improve skills, no matter how long they train or practice something.

Example: Pump Maidana full of PED's, we will not suddenly see him become as skillful as a Marquez. Maidana will never be at that skill level, no matter what you throw in him. But for an already skillful boxer who had more time to practice and implement skills in to bouts, who also has a knowledgeable trainer to teach them skills, it can be very effective.

No. Never. It is not about skills. ITs about stamina, resistance, speed, strength. Those aren't skills. But it will make you a better fighter and even compensate for lack of skills.

:-(. There is nothing that can be put into your body that will make you a better boxer .Either you have it or you don't no matter how long you train.

They don't make you a better boxer but they can help improve other areas which can help improve your performance. While they don't make you a better technical boxer, they improve other areas which can help you win fights. The is a reason why they are called Performance Enhancing drugs because they can help enhance performance. That is why they are banned. Do you honestly believe that athletes spend all this money on Peds's not to gain an advantage ???

Testosterone based steroids would definitely increase aggression.Useful for a fighter. Not sure if they would improve skills.

I can see boxers taking stuff like ritalin or modafinil to increase alertness and concentration during a bout and so react better to an opponent...

But this is not the question. The question is if PED's can improve a boxers skill set/level.

If it is a PED that increases endurance it would enable a boxer to utilize his skill set to the highest level for a longer period than he normally could. For instance, a guy who relies mostly on his legs for defense would be gassing in a fight and his defensive ability would go down as his legs tired. With the increased endurance his legs would tire at a lesser rate, thus making his overall defense more effective for the duration of the fight. On that premise, yes it does.

I can't be bothered going through my posts again. But you can search for them if you want.

I'm just answering people who don't seem to be understanding the question, or people who don't understand what a skill in boxing is. :good

Also, endurance is not a skill. So even if the PED increases leg endurance, it has not improved a skill.

For real,It's really sad . I blame today's generation for lack of knowledge they only have a handful of Good boxers to show them real skill but a ton of mediocre ones that have little to average skill as examples .
