I thought you put the N/A there because this is the first time Donaire has become a lineal champion and obviously he hasn't made any defenses yet.

I had a thread the other day discussing the "linearity" of champions and frankly it was in agreement that its really not as big a deal as long as they've beaten the top dog in a division

but yeah ill probly leave it at N/A since my train of thought is closer to what you have

    I didn't mean to sound like a ***** if I did! Apologies...

Well, honestly, the Paul Williams KO2 occurred after Sergio had become king of MW from Pavlik... But yeah, Macklin and Chavez Jr. both were at the time the #3 or #4 MW, very solid wins. Unlike many, I didn't think Sergio was in too much trouble against Macklin and think I had him up one going into the 11th and final...

As for Donaire, Mthalane or Narvaez, but I'd go Mthalane based on his being at the weight and his future stay there. The Mthalane fight is a real good one, with Mthalane def winning a couple of the first 5 rounds before the cut in 6 and Donaire upping the volume.

I don't think it matters too much, honestly. A lot of hair-splitting with those names, for now.

Well then put an N/A next to Ward, since he didn't become lineal champion until he beat Froch.

    Gotta be consistent...

    its cool

before I finalized the thread I had Narvaez in that spot but it didn't seem as consistent as the other two since Chavez and Froch were in the same division, whereas Narvaez was a superflyweight so I omitted it instead

For the record I have Donaire a clear top and used to have Martinez over Ward but many have posed strong arguments for Ward so I'm undecided between the two

I did read this, so I added longest string of defenses

    Ward
    Donaire
    Martinez

Ranking them on sheer accomplishments to date is, as Boxed Ears points out, basically just splitting hairs. That's how I rank them in terms of actual ability though, simply how good they each are, and I feel very confident about the placings.

many have good ability, but how many are top fighters are willing to delve to new weights to test themselves?

Nonito Donaire has one of the most underrated resumes in all of boxing. Just because people don't know **** about little guys.

    X 2

His resume is insane. People say Ward practically already has HOF credentials, but I don't see his career long resume as being particularly better than Donaires' at all.
