Beating old Morales isnt the most amazing thing, but the style he finished was impressive and we know Morales pushed Maidana.] Garcia showed he could out point Morales as well as find shots to finish him. The way Garcia beat Khan was a good showing. Khan doesnt have the best of chins but stood up to the same Maidana mentioned above who can punch. Throw in a few other wins like K Holt, N Campbell etc and he seems to be coming along well. Garcia is growing on me and I wouldnt mind seeing him come through a few more high profile fights building to a Super fight. A fight between Garcia and Matthysse would be very interesting Be interesting to see how he does.
So am I Bailey. The problem he had was that he was the man who interrupted the great comeback of Erik Morales, but he has a clean slate now,and he's getting better. Far more than the crude slugger I had him down as before the first fight with Erik.
His win over Khan was impressive, although he was getting worked and easily outboxed for most of the fight. He needs another victory over a guy like Maidana, Matthysee, Rios or Peterson to really make me think of him as something other than average.
I bet he won't fight him. Maidana has never been praised as a great fighter, he is simply a true warrior and known slugger. Now with the help of Robert Garcia and the new use of his jab, a fight between him and Garcia would be a great match up. So, relax!
I'm not starting to believe in him, but I'm more starting to accept him. He's no where near a spectacular fighter but he's a winner and he gets the job done by any means necessary. He has all the tools to be a big star in this sport.
He has surprised me also. Clean slate as you say and now ready to go. He was getting beaten by Khan but never seemed phased and was patient, finding the punches. He never looked badly troubled by Khan before hand. A fight against Matthysse looks very intriguing if nit happened Hype is terrible on here. Just look at how Golovkin is hypes and although he looks promising hasnt fought anyone of real note
Sounds fair. Wouldnt argue with that. He seems to have a winning mentality and I have enjoyed watching him in his last 4/5 fights
The hype around Maidana is a big reason I always felt Morales pulled the wool over everyone's eyes as to exactly where he was ability wise. I'm a big fan of Erik, and I was worried that Maidana fight would put him on an extended road to an unhappy ending. And it's the reason Khan did a similar thing when he got past Maidana.Fooled a lot of people.
The most impressive thing about Danny to me is his patience and composure, he really looks like cagey vet in there sometimes the way he takes his time and methodically sets traps, he looks sloppy at times when he's getting his timing down and I think that's why a lot of people wrote him off but even in the Khan fight when some fools say he was getting outboxed that simply wasn't the case. Khan was outworking him he wasn't outboxing him, from round 1 you could see Garcia patient and relaxed landing significant counters and setting up his left hook. He's also got a very solid chin and obviously serious power in his left, wouldn't be wise for anyone to trade with this guy. At 140 right now there's only Matthysse that's got a chance vs Danny unless of course JMM returns to 140.
bailey, you and I agree on pretty much everything except the SMW division and HW division. Good Post.
I'm starting to think he is maybe better than people think he is. In fact he is like Rocky Balbao and whats not to believe in about him?
