Will Alexander vacate instead of fighting Kell Brook?

Brook is now the mandatory challenger for Alexander's IBF trinket. But should Eddie Hearn win the purse bids for the fight do you think Alexander will actually leave the US and defend his title in Sheffield (where the fight will sell out an arena) or will he vacate the title?

Personally, although I think the champion should be able to defend his title at home, I can't see him leaving the country to fight Kell if that's how it works out. I think Brook will end up fighting for the vacant title and Alexander will fight someone else.

It's sad, but if there was an appetite in America to watch its young champions fight live then this would be a much easier fight to make. However, that desire just doesn't seem to exist, so Hearn will most likely out up more money, try to bring the fight to Sheffield where it'll draw a huge crowd which will ultimately deter Devon from wanting to defend his belt.

    What do you think?

What if Alexander fights Malignaggi for a unification? Will the IBF allow that?

Alexander took the fights with Bradley, big hitting Matthysse and Maidana. I don't see him being unwillining to fight Kell Brook. It should come off, and it should be a close, hard battle.

GBP/Alexander will be looking for a bigger name than Brook, who is virtually unknown in America. A rematch with Bradley, a unification with Malignaggi or a payday vs Mayweather all seem to be much more lucrative.

The IBF have been very good at enforcing mandatories & not having multiple belts, so hopefully Devon wont be able to avoid the fight for long without being stripped & Kell can fight for a vacant title rather than be frozen out, like when he was the WBO #1 & Pacquiao was champion.

Khan at the M.E.N in the spring then Hatton for the vacant title in the summer would be cool.

Alexander doesn't fear Brook. That's clear.

The problem, however, is that Alexander doesn't really sell anywhere but St Louis. That's where they'll want the fight to happen. Hearn obviously won't agree to that, and so it'll come down to a purse bid - which if Hearn wins, he'll bring the fight to Sheffield. Alexander obviously isn't gonna' be too keen on that, either.

But ideally, considering Alexander is the much bigger name and the far more established fighter, he has the right to request the challenger to come to his backyard. Brook's a nobody. He really doesn't have a leg to stand on to make any demands to sabotage the fight. But with that said, I do understand Brook's concerns about in being in St Louis.

Personally, I can't see the fight happening. I think he will vacate then Brook will challenge for the vacant. I suppose it depends on if Devon can get a better payday elsewhere.

I see negotiations breaking down and Alexander fighting somebody else. Kell should of fought Bradley.

If he gets a unification fight, it's not a duck.

If he vacates because he doesn't want to fight within 6 months, it's a blatant duck

I'm not a big Alexander fan (really not) but I really don't think he will duck a boxer against who he can shine like "spesjal" Kell... :patsch

Alexander has fought at a very high level. He deserves more respect.
witter, urango, kotelnik, bradley, matthysay, maidana, bailey.

That is a very impressive 7 fight list. and he has been competetive in all those fights.
    He ain't scared of Brook.
