When will the myth that Khan was dominating or easily winning vs Garica end?

In regards to the opening post, I've been saying this since the bout. It was never domination, or even close.

I see Darni has turned up which is why it is 12 pages long. Can't be arsed reading through.

I am proper Khan fan...followed him since the Olympics!! OK........ I can categorically see a victory is definitely not certain for Khan in the rematch. I'd go far to suggest that Khan avoids Garcia for a year or so and move up to 147... Garcia is what someone would call mid-range hooker/ counter puncher. Against Khan, Garcia didn't have any physical advantage over him..so what he did was he tried to shorten the distance and catch him with short looping overhand hooks. Now I've got to say, how ******ed Khan's boxing I.Q is that he couldn't see the punch coming from a mile away and adjust. Garcia tried this on more 4 occasions in round 1 and 2. What khan has to do now against a Garcia - esque fighter is when he lands his own punches don't move back in straight lines but clinch...kinda like Alexander does. Its too late to slip punches!! I know I'm gonna get crucified for say this but I say 6months down the line Khan face Matthyse as a tune up for a Garcia rematch. Matthyse is lets say a raw version of garcia but not much boxing ability.

good points. It will be far better if Garcia and Mathhysee face off and if khan beats molina, he face the zab vs peterson winner. Then he can get the IBF belt and face garcia or mathysee in another unification bringing something to the table.. that would be the best approach

This way khan can conceivably exact revenge on both of his losses, unify the division and can nicely move upto 147. This can be done by summer next year. so Khan only loses a year for his recent catastrophes.. it all depends on whether khan can improve his game and bounce back though

He was ahead, but not dominating or having it easy.

The only improvement at this stage I can see in Khan's game is him picking his punches better and knowing how to tie up when in trouble, I am not gonna lose hope on him improving. One example@ Buddy McGuirt has made a massive difference in the way Matthew Macklin fights, and arguably gave Sergio Martinez his toughest fight. THERE IS HOPE YET!

As for GARCIA - MATTHYSE.....I see Garcia winning that if it goes the score cards. GBP heavily behind Garcia and I could possibly see a Mayweather - Garcia fight before the end of 2013...!!

I think Khan beats Peterson quite handily IF i see any improvements in the Molina fight? Molina is a good body banger but not as tenacious as Peterson!!:good

Khan has heart and a pair of balls on him and I try and like him but posters like him and Khan's overall douche bag attitude make it impossible.

    WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!

Peterson tried to box at the start of the fight and it wasn't until a few rounds that he realized he needed to press Khan.

And he fought more controlled vs Salita? ahahahaha He scored a KD 10 seconds in and then went crazy until he dropped Salita two more times in a minutes time. What the **** are you talking about?

Khan was winning handily until he got drawn into Garcia's game. It's easy to say Khan would win a rematch if he sticks to his gameplan but I'm long past understanding what goes through that boys head.

Funny you say he was winning handily until he got drawn into Garcia's game but all the Khan lovers say he fought the wrong fight from the start?

    Which is it?

I'm no Khan lover and I watched the fight again over the weekend, and I couldn't give a **** about the Khan fanboys. Khan was landing 3-4 punch combos on Garcia at will when he was at range, then quickly stepping out again or covering up. It was only when he decided it was a great idea to remain absolutely static that Garcia clocked him in the neck and it was all downhill from there. If he sticks and moves over 12 rounds against Garcia, he wins barring a serious miscalculation. All credit to Garcia, he timed Khan for the counter neck punch, but Khan was getting too cocky from halfway through the second round onwards when he was having no trouble from range.

Whether he was landing them is beside the point, and he was landing some. He was controlling Garcia with his movement and range, and he got ****ed up when he was completely static in Garcia's range. If every other round had gone the way of the first 2 and a half, it would have been a shutout (and yes I know, there are 12 rounds to a fight). Garcia did what he had to do, but Khan ****ed up and lost his discipline, which is a very Khan-like thing to do. I can't stand him tbh, he's a top-grade ****, but he lost that fight just as much as Garcia won it by turning into his usual cocky lazy self when he saw Garcia was cut and thought it was going to be an easy night.

yeah Garcia blocked them all ... with his face

he landed nearly half of the punches he threw ... Garcia was target practice

next thing this guy will say is that the cut over Garcia's eye was an optical illusion made up by Khan fanboys

The OP must be Angel Garcia or something because Amir Khan was dominating before the big punch by Garcia.

Amir's offensive abilities are on par with the very best of the sport, although he misses, it is his offensive game that has gotten him this far, and had great offense when he won the silver medal in the Olympics in 2004. No one can hate on his offensive game.

Garcia however, had Khan figured out the whole way through. The punch Garcia landed was not lucky whatsoever, it's Garcia's trademark shot.

That's my point, all of Khans success was behind the jab. As soon as he decides to lead with a hook and stay in, Garcia ****ed him up. If he stayed behind the jab all night then he wins, as he was doing up until that point. Garcia had no answer for Khan's movement and range up to that point, it was only when Khan forced the issue that he unravelled, and I don't think he'd do it again in a rematch. I like Garcia from what I've seen and I'll be following his career, there's no hate from me.
