He's my favorite K1 fighter, their was talk of him turning pro, but i doubt he'd have had much of a career in the pro game, How far would he have gotten had he went into boxing at an early age rather then K1. Before ppl talk about his chin remember the fighters who KO'ed him Semmy Schilt(the best K1 fighter of the last 5 years) and Alistair Overeem (who was a KO artist) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jVEJZQwu2A[/ame]
Depends on if he sorted out his temperament and got the right trainer. Badr had all the physical advantages (aside from a china chin) and the personality to make people care about him; he is (or was) a ferocious person that turned heads and made people care about HW kickboxing, and it's never been the same since he left. Unfortunately, the same personality that made people take interest ended up hurting him. He couldn't channel his anger and would ignore rules of engagement and take fights to the streets, resorting to stomps and soccer kicks in stand-up fighting. If he came to boxing, he would have been another Andrew Golota, in my opinion. He's also serving, I think, up to 5 years in prison for almost beating a man to death at a rave in the Netherlands a year or so back. His career is basically finished. He seems set to become a better man and even turned himself in and didn't protest the charges laid against him.
He's a bad-ass. He became probably the best heavyweight kickboxer in the world, easily beating most of the top guys. If he developed the stamina/didn't get into trouble I'd see him KO'ing almost everybody in boxing.
He tried to, trained under brother nasim richardson. He quit after a few months and returned to K1, then he got arrested for beating the **** out of a rich guy and is in jail now.
Too much of a loose cannon. His emotions would be the end of him. You can't box angry against elite fighters.
Nowhere he is to wild to of balance, reaches, after hooks he turns so much he almost falls to the side, loves to brawl and has glass in his chin...
His chin is made of "khanium" a very brittle metal. And has never fought a 12 rounder. He can be a very exciting 4 rounder like Butterbean, but he is much too wild for elite heavyweights. His chin will get cracked at some point.
NO CHIN WHATSOEVER. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySNfK_DV6LY"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySNfK_DV6LY[/ame] at around 3:19 he gets dropped and seriously hurt by a ****ing JAB!
It's hard to say, he does have one of the worst HW chins I've ever seen. I would really like to see him and David Haye go at it though, what a exciting affair that would be while it lasted.
Exciting 70 seconds I watched K1 alot and my favorite fighter(Bonjasky) dropped him with a jab and Bonjasky is known as weak puncher.
