Walsh this month in an interview with BN:

“I’ve only had one fight at lightweight and that was against an Italian bin man so to say I’m going to fight Burns is laughable! I’d be unworthy of a shot, I had 40 amateur fights and have had 13 professional fights.”

He knows it. I've got no hatred for Walsh, he's hardly going to turn it down but it is a crap fight.

It's a **** fight definitely, however Burns only fought in Mid September and all the other champs in the division are tied up until the end of th year, so providing it's just to keep busy until Broner/DeMarco/Vasquez are free then I'm not too fussed. He should have got someone better than Walsh though, even if it is only a stay busy. The big fear for me is that after the Walsh fight we see yet more **** fights instead of unifications.

If Groves/Johnson falls through then this will be a pisstake. im guessing wazza is using all his dosh to get johnson over which reduced the amount for burns opponent.

He's clearly happy to fight these guys and keep earning money.

So if Burns turned Walsh down, he wouldn't fight for a while? No mate, Frank could easily get a top 15 Lightweight over from abroad, he just doesn't want to splash out.

Ive got no real problem with this fight as long as Burns faces one of the top lightweights in the spring/early summer

Ricky seems like a nice bloke & not one to rock the boat, he'll fight whoever Fwank can get & as long as he stays active, in the short term its not a bad thing imo. If it turns into a long running WBO reign of terror that will be very disappointing, Burns does have the ambition to fight the best & hopefully he will next year.

I'm sure it wouldn't have cost that much to get Kim over here. Certainly would've been less than what Rees was offered, anyway.

Wow, cod eyes must think were all idiots! Who would go to this show apart from to see Groves V Johnson and if that falls through (possible) it's a rubbish card

What pisses me off about this is that Liam Walsh is actually a decent prospect. If he was managed correctly he is capable of winning a world title.

Walsh could be defending his Commonwealth title agaisnt Stephen Smith, Paul Truscott, then challenging for the British/European. It's a complete joke.

Ji Hoon Kim won't have been getting paid much more than £30,000 for his ESPN fights.

    Probably closer to £10,000.

Purses from ESPN shows are usually low; Katsidis only got around £16k for his last fight and he's a big name for a FNF card.
