    I smell one of those guys who lost the Donaire/Nishioka ban bet.

    ---

    Edit: And what? Am I supposed to treat him as a fighter who has only those victories? Because the pure number of fights could not elevate him above a C. There are no fighters out there other than Jeffries with that few fights who are legit ATG's- or who could earn an "A" ranking on par with fighters who have been in a division much longer or have an entire career to consider. So, your Carl Froch example is extremely confusing and I think even destroys the logic of the thread entirely when you bring it up.

    That is like, what is the letter grade for Mayweather just at 154. An "A" for quality opponents when he fights? Or a "D" because he isn't a top 20 all time JMW? I'm telling you; the letter grade concept is meaningless, utterly meaningless.

    B or B+. Wish he stayed a bit more active (at least 2 fights a year in the last 5 years would've been nice.)

  4. Sorry to tell you but JMM never beat Pac. This is just typical ***** hatred GET OVER IT. And at least Pac had fought JMM at weight were he is better and never dragged him up in weight ( and cheated the weight ) never having fought close to that weight before....
    Haters hate so keep hating and forget about boxing

    Missing out on Margarito/Williams/Pac has prevented it being an A. Can exclude Margarito now in hindsight due to cheating and post Mosley this fight would have been pointless.

    What fighters would be considered to have an A?

    Not fighting the guys he should've fought. Fought some of them way beyond the time he should've fought them.

    Whether its his fault or not doesn't matter.

    He could've beat all of them. What a waste.
    Imagine all those tapes we would show children on learning how to box...

    Put it this way, if Mayweather would have retired after Marquez and not returned. His resume at WW and LMW would have been very, very disappointing and underwhelming. But, he has picked up solid and very solid wins since then. However, he is missing out/did miss out on that one opponent that would have taken his run at the higher weight classes, and put an argument in place that his latter resume (upper weight classes) was greater than his early resume (lower weight classes).

    Mayweather's resume in the higher weight classes will always be a little underwhelming at this point (unless his next opponent surprises me). Not because he is boxing opponents who are not very good, but just for his actual boxing level, you expect more, and people will always expect more.

    B+.

    DLH, Hatton, JMM, Mosley, Ortiz and Cotto in a row is excellent, but the lack of Pacquiao (for whatever reason) hurts it. Williams would have been nice aswell.

    For a rough idea of tier's I'd go

    A* = Robinson
    A = Leonard
    B = LMR
    C = Duran
    D = Mayweather

    C+/B-

    If he'd faced 2 of Williams, Cotto and Margarito at 147 when the fights were relevant and then gone on to face Pacquiao he'd be A+, unfortunately what we have is a list of good fighters chosen at the correct times. Hatton should have been at 140 after their wins against Gatti and Tszyu, Cotto should have been at 147 after Gomez when he looked at his best, Margarito should have been after Cotto I, regardless of controversy since.

    A win over Pac would have made it A grade no doubt

    C +. Decent run nothing spectacular considering his hand picking of opponents.
