There is an important link between his style and his power. You can't do what he does at the top level unless you seriously discourage even the toughest of opponents, I'd even say it has to do more than just discourage them...it has to be genuine heavy handedness. It has to be that way, we've seen many fall by the way side trying to get by on reflexes because it has its up sides offensively, then they get hustled and become a mess. He has the dig to keep a fight at a distance that suits him, where his jab comes from below an opponents eye line, where he usually has a reach advantage and a style advantage.

We saw hints of what can happen when a fighter disregards this type of fighters power in the Kessler fight and somewhat in the Ward fight. They're not often too good up close because the style is focused around reflexes and its hard to react to short shots. Fortunately not that many can stay in the pocket or consistently walk him down.

I think Froch gets inside the heads of his opponents too.

He certainly fooled Dirrell into thinking he was Julian Jackson - by the time Dirrell figured out who and what Froch was he'd already lost several rounds and had the referee on his case.

I think facing a man who genuinely believes he's undentable must be very intimidating.... from my rugby days you always knew which players would never miss tackles, which ones didn't fancy it and the ones who'd try and take your head off.

Must be similar in boxing, obviously it's only one against one, and the only way out is to duck them or take a dive early.

if anything, his boxing ability is under rated. Similar to Tony Bellew. Because of the way they talk, people perceive them to be brawlers, not having anything besides power. In reality both of them can box as well as fight. Froch is often considered the under dog. Most here thought Abraham would take his head off, and Bute would be too skilled for him.

Most here did not think Bellew was capable of outboxing Cleverly. These fighters keep banging on about their power, and in people's minds they turn into crude bangers, and their boxing ability is forgotten. Then when they outbox their opponents, people are surprised.

I didnt think he'd fight the level of opposition he has, but when he smashed Tatevosyan inside 2 rounds I knew he'd win a World Title.

He's very crude but what he does is very effective, draws people into a tear up and then their punches just bounce off his ****ing IRON jaw and the rest is history

I can remember seeing him fight on the bbc and thought 'we might have something special here' then I watched him fight against some nobody in the states and thought yep this Kid is gonna go places and he would do well if he works on his defence and speed.

I always thought Froch would come unstuck against a solid euro fighter like kessler and when the fight with inkin nearly happened I thought that would be it.

Great fighter is Froch, the pascal fight being a favourite of mine.

I expected him to win a world title but if somebody said to me he'd have a 7 fight run against Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson, Ward and Bute and win 5 of them I'd have been skeptical:blood
