I do hear what your saying its just that he got dropped in the amateurs aswell a couple of times. I just dont think he can take a shot like some elite boxers do I mean the punch Mosley gave Mayweather would have had Khan dancing (IMO of course) and in the big fights he is going to come across moments like that, that he is going to have to withstand to become a good champion and I just dont see that happening off the evidence so far thats all
The first thing Hunter's going to teach him is how to clinch and smother when hurt, ala Ward. Khan rarely ever does that, instead opting to fight back/backpedal, which is ridiculous. If he can learn how to maintain his composure when things aren't going to plan, it'll go a long way to helping him survive those bombs imo. He has a great jab/1-2 when he uses it, and good lateral movement too, so he's already half way there.
Similar to Paulie Mallagnaggi. Getting by vs C+, B fighters but coming short to top guys. I really wouldn't be surprised if hes finished in 5 years.

Boxing will undergo some big changes in the next two years. Absolutly Khan will retire before he is 30-31. His style without his physical fitness attributes = useless.
It would take a remarkable career turnaround for Khan to be HOF worthy, considering what has happened thus far. It's not completely out of the question (Wlad has come back from similar black-eye losses), but he has an awful lot of ground to make up. It would take either a long run of dominance or wins over p4p candidates to have a HOF argument. Neither looks particularly likely given the flaws already discussed. "One of the most highly regarded British boxers ever" puts him in some pretty esteemed company, and again I have difficulty seeing a scenario where he can find wins to put him on the same standing as someone like Buchanan.
We'll just have to wait and see, my man. Admittedly I have a lot more faith in Khan compared to some people, as well as a lot of respect for Virgil Hunter as a trainer. I believe he'll be able to make some substantial changes to Khan's game, especially defensively. I also think he'll naturally mature more with age, and become a lot more composed and calculated in the ring. People forget he's only 25 years old, that's still quite young for a world championship level fighter. Either way his career will be an exciting and interesting one while it lasts :deal
The next 10 fights will look something like this... W(TKO) L(KTFO) W(UD) L(KTFO) W(TKO) L(KTFO) W(KTFO) L(KTFO) W(TKO) L(KTFO) Exciting fighter so he'll continue to collect belts, sell out arenas and make good money in the process. The resistance issue, however, won't go away...especially as he moves up in weight.
If Khan doesn't change, then he will win a few decent fights, and lose a couple via bad KOs again. If he can learn to react better under pressure, and fight in a way that minimises his inherent weakness whilst focussing on his strengths, then he can be a successful champion again. However, there is a chance that trying to teach Khan to be more measured in his approach may actually prevent him from capitalising on his physical advantages. I will be able to really comment after a couple of fights with Virgil.
I think that the blueprint has been set. I don't think Khan will be able to stay away from a puncher all fight long. Anyone that can take his punch will eventually walk him down. Matthyse, Garcia, even Peterson and probably even Maidana now that he's boxing a little, will get to him. If Cano didn't cut so easily, he would beat Khan. Don't think Virgil will be able to change this, ultimately.
