Tye Fields Wins By Knockout, Round One!

Meh, I don't get the bitching.

I'd prefer to watch a guy like Fields over Ruiz. A KO is a KO.

 

Kevin McBride stands a good chance at beating Fields.

 

Compubox will get giddy if Fields vs Rahman gets made. Both guys are capable of throwing an awful lot of leather.

 

****, I never thought I'd say this, but Rahman-Fields makes alot of sense now.

 

I've never seen Fields in action, but his record certainly does not contain anyone on it that leads me to believe that he's been truly tested. In 41 pro fights by the age of 33, he needs to start demonstrating that he has talent, if any such talent exists. A heavily padded record is no indication of world beater status.

 

There's a reason he hasn't been matched against anyone decent. He's a regional fighter boosted to national television thanks to a promotional tie-in. It's that simple.

He certainly looks like he can bang, but his skills and stance don't look that impressive. I suppose he's the type of guy that you'd give a puncher's chance against anybody, but that's about it.

 

Well he is padding his record because he had virtually no amateur experience. Him and Butterbean would be a good fight lol.

 

I'll give him credit as being better than Beanfart. But, he doesn't look like top contender material to me, and at age 33, its doubtful that he ever will be.

 

Fields had NO amatuer experience, I can forgive him for learning on the job. He HAS slowly progressed up his level, but I thought he would of progressed higher by now, his step up fight was back in 03 against Sherman Williams, and I thought his reign of tomato-can stomping terror would of been over by AT THE LATEST 2005.. but nope..

He's not great, actually he's not even good, but his chin seems alright actually, and he's exciting.. I see him being a highlight reel KO victim ala Jason Litzau when he get's to the top level guys, but he might be able to win on sheer punching and catching one of the better guys on an off night.

Fields needs to step it up. His record is meaningless if it is all a bunch of bums.

 

Tye is a good kid was a basketball player who works with what he has. Not great coaching. But he works at it. He is 33 and will never be champion but could get a couple of good paydays if he is smart and lucky.

I don't know exactly how he got shuffled into the fight game, but he seems to be making the best of it, or at least trying to. Apparently there is talk about him fighting Hasim Rahman sometime over the summer. This would be a good test to see if he can actually do something against someone who is at least half way decent. No, this isn't the Rahman who defeated Lennox Lewis several years ago, but he's keeping active and may have a little fight left in him. If nothing else, Rahman is still better than anyone Fields has faced thus far. If Tye manages to beat Rahman, then he may have a shot at getting a bigger fight with a rated opponent, who could catapult him into the heavyweight picture, but for now, he needs to take it one step at a time.
