A win over a past prime still sort of good RJJ>>>> a win over an EXTREMELY drained and weak Dawson. Dawson was literally a zombie in that fight and had no chance.
Now if Ward had gone up to LHW and beaten Dawson the way he did it would have been an AMAZING win, but since he fought a weight drained Zombie it's just an OK win.
Jones was completely finished, that's the difference. We know he lost his speed and athleticism, the factors that made him P4P king, and Jones couldn't adjust anymore. We know how weakened Roy Jones became by coming back down to LHW from HW. He was 34 when he fought Tarver also. Dawson is in his prime. Moving down to 168 definitely weakened him, but it still wasn't catastrophic by any means.
Ward vs Dawson easily. Rating Calzaghe vs Jones is like rating Ali vs Holmes or Ali vs Berbick. Only trolls and ******s praise that win.
He was approx185 lbs in that fight. He was the same weight in the ring as he always was at light heavy. Getting down to 168 probably took something out of him, but lets not go over board. People seem to think that if it had been at lightheavy, Dawsom would have been some sort of all action, bigger version on Pacquiao. Hes ALWAYS lethargic looking. He wins by being slick and having a crisp jab. He NEVER is high intensity
Did you see the fight? Dawson looked dead in the opening bell, his foot was glued to the canvas, no foot movement, he had a very weak offense. All the flaws he showed against Hopkins such as his poor footwork were not corrected, a lot of that blame goes to his trainer. Anyone who has followed Dawson's career, knows that wasn't Dawson at his best. Chad was very effected by the weight because his reflexes were not there. I heard he had to lose 9lbs in like six days. But there many factors going against Dawson in that fight. As a Dawson fan, and boxing fans in general, he disappointed everyone, he didn't show up. He looked like he didn't want to be there. Another thing his skills are on the decline because he constantly switches trainers. Yet it was his dumb decision to fire Steward and hire Scully. His performance against Hopkins in the second fight was extremely poor, probably one of his worst performances in his career, and that is a product of Scully's work.
Let's see a fight against a. Shot Jones who hadn't beat an elite level guys since what 03 over a win over the current lt heavy champ ..Are the Calzaghe fans going full ****** as of late atsch
Ward v Dawson. Although neither are that great,Jones was well past it and Dawson should not have lost the weight.
