So to answer my own question, he won a WBC LMW belt when he fought Cotto.

 

Nobody gives a **** about belts when it gets to the level of Floyd and Pacquiao.

People were bothered about Pacquiao trying to drain Cotto, the belt was irrelevant, as it was in the Floyd vs Cotto fight.

Both were fantastic wins for Floyd and Pacquiao, top 3 career wins for both imo.

Get over it.

 

The 'diamond' belt is a joke in itself, and has little value. However so is the belt Saul Alvarez currently holds.

I'm not sure about everyone else but Cotto was pretty much the consensus number ONE JMW in the world when Floyd fought him

The WBC Belt floyd won against cotto was vacant

The other 'genuine' WBC belt in the division, held by Saul Alvarez, was also won vacant, by beating Matthew Hatton

So, regardless of the title, tell me which belt is garbage? Because I know beating Cotto for a vacant belt gives it more worth than beating M. Hatton for a vacant belt

There either isn't a consensus beltholder / champ in the division

Or it's Floyd

I'm inclined to go with the champ spot vacant and Floyd as the number 1, Cotto at 2, Lara @ 3 and Alvarez 4.
