After being chased to retirement by a blown up CW, how will history remember Vitali?

    ?!?

Mthalane lost a TKO6 on cuts to Donaire, while also winning a couple of the first 5 rounds. Is that too a NC?

I think Vitali was decisively beating Lennox 4-2 and the biggest non-KO beatdown of Lennox's career, but it was a legit definitive result. Sort of like Williams/Sergio I, the loser rose rankings in defeat. Very few losses are actually quality, Williams/Sergio I and Lewis/Vitali, are two of them. However, quality LOSSES.

Havent seen that fight, not gonna comment. In case of Vitali Lewis the result was indecisive and if it was declared a NC it wouldnt make any difference.

Vitali was outfighting Lewis on the outside.
Manny told Lewis to fight him on the inside, tactic worked and Vitali his chin was the only thing keeping him alive.

for a huge underdog Vitali did fine.

The only thing Vitali "exposed" was that Lewis has trouble with good jabbers.
Though frank Bruno already proved Lewis had trouble with those guys. (One of the few fights were Bruno actually was full of self esteem against an elite), though Bruno didn't have the chin Vitali has but he had more power but a very poor finisher. Lewis also came back strong against Bruno.

The Lewis-Vitali fight was far from indecisive. Vitali won the early rounds but Lewis withstood it then beat Vitali's face to a bloody pulp and won with a TKO via some of the worst cuts ever seen in a heavweight fight. If the fight continued Vitali was in danger of being mauled for life and having his career end then an there. Declaring it a no contest would be pointless, it would be re-writing history and robbing Lewis of a perfectly legitimate win over a very good heavyweight in his last professional fight simply so Vitali's fanboys could say he didn't lose that fight.

He will be remembered as a fighter who turned good ESB posters into imbecilic trolls.

He will be remembered as the having participated in the last great HW title fight we have seen and as the man who retired Lewis.
