Hey guys I've been interested in taking up some jiu-jitsu classes. What do you guys think? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1DLyRmSpWM[/ame]
Are you the bigger guy? Watch some videos on submissions 101's YouTube if you can't afford lessons. Keep training. It takes a long time to even scratch the surface with grappling. Lynchburg
I realize Jiu Jitsu is effective, but it is also disgusting. I just don't see how a grown man could spend his money on something like this just because he can't fight with his hands. I'd rather just buy a gun or carry a knife and call it good.
On Youtube you can find videos made by Rorion Gracie, Damian Maia, and Stephan Kesting easily. You can also find instructionals by a plethora of other legitimate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts. The submissions 101 guy has no black belt. As far as I am aware, he is a white belt in BJJ with a black belt in JJJ and a purple shirt (that many say he bought) from 10th planet. There are MUCH better easy to find instructionals out there than submissions 101.
There are many guys that add videos on that channel. It is very good in my opinion. He is not wearing a Gi either so a basic understanding of all positions is a great starting point. Lynchburg
Looks like you discovered the real secret to jiujitsu - that is if you outweigh your opponent by a couple hundred pounds - you can pretty much do whatever you want to them! Eddie Bravo often puts his 10th Planet Jiujitsu vids out for free on his website. You should check into them. Other than that - if you're serious about training - you have to find a coach somewhere. Anything else will just wind up getting you hurt.
