I have been a boxing fan for over 20 years and I am not an expert on boxing, but I still know quite a bit from watching fights. And I also have read books and still have a Ring Magazine collection from most of the 90s. And all I am saying is Pavlik has a better chance then most think. I have watched Pavlik closely and he is much more talented then given credit for. Hand and foot speed are often what people look at when they are judging talent because its the most obvious thing to be seen, but there are other gifts a fighter can have that can be even greater then blazing speed. That said Pavlik has better hand speed than given credit for also. Pavlik is not so talented that he can afford to be less then 100% going up against the best of the best. That goes for any boxer in history though. That said Pavlik was in rehab 2 weeks before the fight and weight drained Pavlik was beating Martinez late into the fight till he was mostly blinded by his own blood. The way I look at things that makes Pavlik a very talented fighter, BUt Martinez is considered one of the best in the world by many and Pavlik is considered a shot fighter by many. If people thought about that for a little while they might figure out that a healthy Pavlik would probably have been to much for Martinez.
Not true. That was Duncan's story, but Duncan was the one who advised KP not to use Diaz because Diaz is expensive. Believe me, Duncan was a total hypocrite over that. The only thing he did right was pay the incompetant boob half his fee, and throw him out of his office. Duncan's ****-up, but he has never taken responsibility for it.
The money demand was the primary issue but I've never heard that Dunkin made the call to get rid of him, and I've never heard that he was the one who recommended Brumback. Hell Pavlik himself tried to blame Loew during one of his awful interviews after turning down the Cunningham fight, claiming Loew was intimidated about Diaz giving advice.
Guarantee they wanted Ward in Oakland, where he can't draw ish, and Kelly to take 10 cents on the dollar. Ward is the most protected fighter I've seen in a long, long time.
I agree. Ward's style is all wrong for Pavlik. Pavlik's needs better management. They should have target bute or froch or kessler who are more stationary targets.
This old "Pavlik needs better management" crap was already OLD in 2000 ****ing 8! Pavlik makes his own choices, and on at least two occasions acted against the advice of management. Get over it! Bute: Not available until next summer, maybe never if Froch tears him up again. Froch: Not available until next summer. Kessler: Next two fights already lined up. Ward/Pavlik is the ONLY fight that makes sense for either guy. Live with it.
Sauerland tried to get Pavlik but had to settle for Magee. Word (rumour) at the time was that Pavlik wasn't ready for a step-up yet.
Here's the latest: Within the last 16 hours, Live Fight and Bad Left Hook both claimed Top Rank and Goossen are getting closer and closer to finalizing a contract. Both sides have proposed venues, and both fighters want the fight.
Posts like this baffle me. Zero interest? "ZERO"? As in 'absolutely **** all interest'. If it were free you'd switch channel? If you were given ringside tickets you'd say "no thanks, this fight is ****ing ****"? I'd have an interest in watching it because I like to watch people box. Do you not like to watch people boxing? If so, why come here? All these questions and more.
