Lets hope this fight is made for Pavlik's sake, even if I don't see him win more than a handful of rounds, if so. At this point, his options are limited money wise at 168lbs. Besides Ward & possibly Chavez Jr., where would the big money fight come from in the next 12 months ? Landing Froch, Kessler or Abraham in the States is only wishful thinking, while Bute will move up to 175 after the Froch rematch, if he still fights on. Even if Pavlik loses to Ward, he may still be able to land a Chavez fight down the road because of his name in the game, once Chavez officially moves up to 168.
Yes. ZERO. These 2 guys already fought and one guy destroyed the other. Theres no intrigue here. No wondering what might happen. One guy whooped the others ass right up until he stopped him. Id have zero interest in watching Pacquiao fight Clottey again for example.
It might not be of interest to a casual fan like you, but fans of the sport knows about the controversies surrounding the first fight ie. the headbutts, the holding the inept referee that was about to DQ the dane, the eyeproblems of Kessler that hampered his vision. And of course there's the homefield thing. No fighter in the s6 won in the opponents homecountry. There's plenty for Ward to prove that would interest fans. Not you of course. You'd rather watch a rerun of Sesame Street. To each his own. You may leave now.
No, real fans of the sportb saw Ward put on a clinic. Butthurtb fans who dont like Ward for some unknown reason(hes arguably the most fundamentally skilled boxer out there, outside Floyd), see issues with his schooling of Kessler. "The better man won on the night"-Mikkel Kessler.
There were no real controversies, people should just admit that they knew nothing about Ward before the Super 6 and that they also overrated Kessler, which is why they though Kessler would win and which is why they make excuses for Kessler and discredit Ward. The way Ward totally dominated Kessler left a lot people with egg on their faces which leads to him getting a lot of hate on here. I personally find it quite amusing.
I would love to see Ward rematch and re-dominate Kessler. Ward's haters actually believe a guy who drove himself, his trainer, and a camera man to a press conference to announce he has double vision. They always conveniently leave out the fact that Kessler had a hand injury leading up to the Joe Cal fight, though.
I want to see him fight someone new, Like Pavlik, or maybe one of the Dirrells if they ever get their careers back on track. Maybe go up to LHW and clean house there. But Kessler???? NO!
To be fair a lot of the people who hate Ward are not really boxing fans, just Calzaghe fans who were desperate for Kessler to win the Super 6 because it would reflect favorably on their idol. They also though Kessler must be something special as he gave Calzaghe a competitve fight. So when Ward beat Kessler far more handily than Joe did and people started suggesting that Ward might actually be better than their hero it sent them into a frenzy. You don't have to look very far on here to see examples of this and this pathetic fanboyism (that follows a lot of other fighters too) is one of the reasons why I don't post on here all that often.
Another example of why most of this forum is regarded as a joke by sensible boxing fans. Someone posts something you don't like and you resort to insults, grow up.
