I don't remember it being that clear cut, but whatever. At what point was this? After Witter beat Harris? Hatton was fighting Castillo and Mayweather (at 147) for a LOT more money. HBO wouldn't have bought a fight with Witter.

When Hatton was on the comeback trail, Witter was fighting his mandatory, Tim Bradley. So when could this fight have happened? There was no reason for Hatton to fight Witter because there were bigger money fights against more esteemed opposition. That's a simple fact.

Witter felt their was a rivalry, I don't think Hatton ever did.

Any Hatton fight at that point would have filled a stadium. No one would have been there for Witter. Not even his mum.

What fans? I don't remember anyone, other than the Hatton haters, calling for it.

    I'm glad we agree.

A fighter with a horrendously ugly style, who bored the crowd to death, had a **** following and was obsessed with Ricky Hatton. In his last fight he got called a ****ing idiot by his trainer. Proceeded to do some kind of riverdance. Like I said, if you're not family and are a fan of this guy you have some serious issues because the only thing duller than his fighting was his interviews.

Well i was a huge hatton fight, couldnt stand witter, that didnt mean i didnt want them to fight,You must have not read Boxing news if you think it was just ricky haters who wanted the fight, the thing is aswell Ricky had so many excuses..
The fight has to be built up
He needs to keep winning(he did that)
He needs to beat world class fighters(he did that)
He needs to Win a title(he did that)
Ricky had a different excuse everytime he was asked about that fight..
We will have to agree to disagree but I feel Witter was ducked by Hatton and so do a lot of people..

And the fact Witter had no fans is irrelevant, most of Hattons opponent he fought in Manchester,John Bailey,Michael Stewart,Vince Philips, they hardly had loads of fans in the crowd, just another excuse..

A fighter who won the British, Commonwealth, European and World Title. And a decent operator with a few stinkers to boot.

Someone who Ricky Hatton ducked. Shamelessly ducked.

It would have been nice if Hatton had had the balls to actually try to prove your hypthesis

I would love for that fat **** to get up in court, and under oath say that that is true...He'd be in Brixton nick before he could say "double fish and chips please"

Bottom line is...If Ricky Hatton had done what he was supposed to do and fight him when they were both coming up, nobody would have ever heard of Ricky Hatton. His career wouldn't have got off the ****ing ground.

He was able to get up the ladder as a direct result of ducking Junior Witter back in the day. And I don't give a **** what anybody says about it.

Great athletic ability, a totally **** technical fighter.

He cannot throw straight punches, has motor skill issues with throwing combinations aswell.

Very unusual for a gifted black fighter.

I think he got carried away with the Ingle style, so much technically that he could not fight any other way.

Ricky Hatton never fought Junior Witter because..?

He never wanted to give Junior Witter exposure, or a big payday!
