    :rofl

I think Foreman would be far to relentless for Sonny. The jab is possibly the greatest punch a fighter can have, however I fail to see how it's going to keep someone with an amazing chin like Foreman's and aggressive style away from them. Both men are going to take serious punishment for however long this lasts, but I think Foreman's relentless pressure will be to much for Sonny eventually. Although Liston's chin is probably underrated on ESB, it's not on the level of Chuvalo, Ali etc. Foreman by KO within 6, boxing Foreman whilst being aggressive is not the way to beat him. I thoroughly believe you need to fight Foreman of the back foot and have an incredibly good chin.

Will both fighters be able to rub linament in the others eyes or will only Liston have that advantage?

    I see George stopping Liston

Liston beats Foreman, and i love both guys.

Foreman wont be able to bully, intimidate or 'Frazier' a guy like Liston, Liston has better fundamentals. Liston wont have to look far for Foreman, if you watch 'Clay' Vs Liston 1, Liston catches him with quite a lot of jabs

Liston beats Foreman by mid round TKO. In a battle between two equally physically imposing sluggers, you go with the man with the better skills and better jab....Sonny Liston

Liston late TKO, after taking a serious early pounding. George could win an early KO though.

A little factoid: The only time Wepner was ever off his feet was against Ali, when he fell over from sheer exhaustion, no real punches. Chuck had one of the hardest chins ever. Proven by the fact that he fought face first and had relatively poor defense, and took on some serious hard hitters.

I admire both of these fearsome sluggers, but I have to side with Liston. He and foreman were nearly even when it comes to punching power , he was the Better boxer and never lost a fight when it came to brute strength. Bot of them proved their skills against hard punchers. Liston vs Williams and foreman vs Lyle, but foreman showed tht he could get dropped. Liston didn't. He was a better boxer.and had better endurance. Near equal chins. Equal strength.
    Liston KO by 8

This is such an idiotic statement that I should not even bother to respond....if you want say that George was a better boxer fine, but this shows you have heard people talk about Frazier, but have not watched his footage....I am well aware that the left hook was his money punch, try watching him rather than regurgitating erroneous statements. I am so sick of people saying he had only a left hook....Count the beautful rights to the body as a set up...quite a few nice upper cuts...and similar to Tyson (who also gets sold short did use a jab, just differntly than the sterotypical range finders and such. @ 9:30 even Cossell can see the right!

He uses the jab effectively against Mathis, as well as the wide right to the body and while not a defensive wizzard by any stretch he had good head and body movement that he ws not as easy to hit flush as you may believe!

    Epic Fail! :cus

    Sonny takes this.

Foreman either relied on his powerful jab or strength -- both of which would be taken away by Liston.

Firstly the jab: Sonny's is far superior. Longer, quicker, sharper. If he chose to box and it was a slower paced fight than expected - Liston would score points and time Foreman easy.

Strength: No doubt George is stronger than Sonny - but not by much. As already said, Ron Lye troubled Foremn and Sonny is clearly as strong (if not stronger) than Lyle; he was also tougher and a better all rounder.

Sonny can beat Foreman at any game he choses, depending on him being in his '59 prime.

Liston can not take foreman's best shots. He'll be stooped within 6 rounds.

First of all Frazier was a left hooker...a converted southpaw left hooker. If you lived though those times you would understand that although he threw his right he did not have the coordination with it to use it effectively in combination with his hook. Going into the third Ali Frazier bout Frazier had developed a better right hand shown in his second bout with Quarry. Those that rated his right hand at that time rated it a 3 on a 5 point scale as per Ring and BI. His right hand was really never a factor in his last bout with Ali. Frazier did have great head movement and was not the open target some would try to indicate. I would say he made Ali miss more times that landed in fight one with Ali. However Fraziers style is just wrong for fighting Foreman. Reason is that George only needed one shot to put Joe on ***** street and Fraziers crouch and inability to switch his style made him wide open for Foremans best and most powerful punches.

Lyle did. And don't tell me he's tougher than Liston. Watch Sonny against Williams in their first fight - he took a POUNDING and was never wobbeled or hurt. And I doubt there is a MASSIVE difference in Williams and Foremans hitting power.

Liston holds all the cards here stylistically.

I would be as confident of him winning as you ever really can be with this type of fight.

George was very rusty in the Lyle fight and trying to do something different. Not a good fight for George, even though he still knocked Lyle out. Another day and Foreman would have got Lyle out of there quicker.
By the way, the second round was shortened when George had Lyle in trouble.
