He was barely 4 year professional. Being boring shouldn't affect your ATG spot. Having bad fans shouldn't affect your ATG spot...
I'm a big time Wlad fan been one since the 90's but to be honest i dont think he'll ever be top 5, he can probably make up the top half of top 10 or at least inside top 15 that is not and insult to his talent or accomplishments but look at some of his predecessors, heavyweight has had some great champions
Wlad's been the dominant heavyweight champion for years now since finishing off Chris Byrd. He's closing in on Larry Holmes in length of title reign. Holmes is second only to Joe Louis in that regard. Wlad, for years always fought the top rated fighter and took dangerous fights on his comeback trail like unbeaten power-puncher Sam Peter. People forget that Peter was the favorite in that fight. Wlad has fought much bigger and stronger fighters than those past champions. At six-foot two and a half inches, Ali was considered a big, tall fighter back in his day and towered over many of his opponents. Wlad at over 6 foot 6inches in height, with great reach advantages and natural two-fisted power and great boxing technique would be a nightmare for all but the top five heavy's all-time. He's top 10 material for sure.
Ali, Holmes, Louis, Foreman, Lewis, Tyson, Liston, Marciano, Dempsey, Frazier, Holyfield, Johnson Fact is his level of comp and his KO's hurt him. He's still a great boxer but he's not a lock for top 10 just quite yet. Will he get there? Probably. And I'm pretty well educated in all of their careers.
if you were then you wouldnt put some of those names ahead of him. You criticize his level of opponents yet you rate Dempsey, Johnson and Liston ahead of him.
Ali was a 4 year professional when he faced Sonny Liston. If you guys are being serious about a Top 5 position though.
Without even one exception all of Liston his wins can be summed like this: They were either a bum (12+ fights lower than 75% win ratio or a total career of less than 12 fights), or they were knocked out before. Not even one exception. Also a lot of Liston his opponents were coming of a loss.
:yep SSSSHHHHHH SONNY was an all time great . He crushed a weak chinned PATTERSON twice . And that was his whole title stint . but somehow that is a better stint at the top then VLADS atsch
:hi: Im not quite sure why you find that ammusing ? but your lack of boxing knowlege is as bad as my spelling yep .
I don't know about that. You fight in the era that you're in and you do the best you can. Dempsey has more 1st round KO's than any other fighter in history. Liston was a H2H monster that would likely stand a good chance against Wlad, even with the size difference. And Johnson makes many people's ATG top 10 list. Back in those days there was only on title holder so you really knew who was number 2 etc. Now a days you don't. And if one things number 2 is Vitali, then it's a fight that never happened. Pretty subjective stuff.
