Wegner produces world champions and decent condenters but he can't make any superstars if he trains everyone with a same way. And it seems like he does.

Dirks.. Murat.. Abraham.. Gerber.. Helenius.. Britcsh.. Hernandez..

Everyone of them fights like a one paced robot. No counter punching skills at all, can't maky any traps or lure opponents. Fights with a slow pace and always 1-2 punches. No comnibations or any pieces of creativeness. So predictable style to fight. Gotta give some credit to Helenius and Huck though. Helenius can make some traps and is dangerous with his counters but other ways he is no deflection in Ulli's robot collection.. And Huck is a one crazy caveman.. One of my favourites. Wegner can't control him. :blah

-- And then comes a opponent who moves well and keeps up a high activity with a punches in bunches. And what happens?

    Cleverly - Murat
    Froch/Dirrell - Abraham
    Chisora - Helenius
    Santos - Britsch
Gerber already showed signs of that(Harris, Sprott) and when a step up happens.. You know what happens.
Same thing with Dirks who is afwul to watch.
Hernandez is a decent champ but very vulnerable and predictable.

And with this fight Huck joined to the same group :-( I feel it was a off night but that was such a unimpressive performance. Arslan didn't do anything special: Hands high, big determination and straight forward style.. Tonight I didn't see any determination and willigness in Huck's work if you compare this fight to Povetkin/Afolabi fights..

Tonight he really was a typical sauerland fighter:huh

Yeah... I think his way of training belongs to an era 50 years ago or so..

He had a lot of talent to chose from (because he is highly regarded in Germany and gets the best to chose from)... but he really should have produced far better than he has.

I Agree totally. It was actually funny to see Huck fighting a guy with turtleshell defence. He couldn't get passed it. And I like Huck!

His fighters win and won by robberies. Most of them. Sven Ottke was the same like today.

    Arslan was robbed.

Gerber is not a Wegner fighter.

Great post. I mostly agree. Dirks aint trained by Wegner though, but by Otto Ramin, who also trains Pulev.

And Gerber.. well that guy is awful. Schooled by Harris and was getting schoold by Sprott. Then yesterday he was nearly KTFO by a tube of lard

He isn't a bad trainer but I'm not a fan of his style and most of his fighters are one dimensional I think Sdunek is the better trainer in Germany

Both are not good trainers. Old DDR-School.

Wegners fighters won because of robberies, Sdunek ruined Wlad and other good skilled fighters.

They have no character and no love for the boxing sport. No respect.

I changed the title.. Cause it's not only Wegner who produces those robots as you guys mentioned. It's kinda frustrating cause Sauerland has lots of talent in their hands.. Has Sauerland ever produced a slick and fast puncher? Dirks and Gerber were afwul last night. So was Huck. You really could see that they are using same training methods.. They have no idea at all how to counter punch or make traps.

Should be interesting. We'll get some pointers to how his recovery went. I still am not a big fan because his stamina and workrate are awful, but he has good fundamentals and throws awkward punches that are hard to see.

Hope he can iron out some of his flaws.

I think they must GTFO Wegner and bring on some talented trainer.

wegner is underrated or more understated in world boxing as a trainer. from the translator in the corner he can whip up fighters in the ring. its in the gym he seems to leave them with "hands up/jab/right hand/left hook/clinch/move laterally 2 steps if your ahead and repeat"

his work with abraham worked perfectly his work with a few others has been dire.

i think he knows his boxing and loves the scene in general. but he forces fighters to fight like he wants them to. at least with steward r.i.p. who was renowned for having a set standard approach for fighters at least molded 2 the macro-unconventional hamed and the 3 left feet and a set of shoulders with dennis andries.

it's a shame because a man whom to me, a brit. consider an icon of german boxing even european boxing in general.

but look at yoan pablo hernandez. long fighter. great mvovemnt in the amatuers great head movement aswell. fast hands and power.....now he is a zombie with combos. he had the talent to beat cunningham without wegners help persoanlly.

what do you germans think of him?
