How would Carl Froch be at 168lbs with just an average chin ?

I'm just curious to see your take and your perspective on the man as a boxer, if you take his iron chin out of the equation.

So lets pretend that he only had an average chin, how would his career have developed since the Jean Pascal fight ?

Taking everything else into account without posessing an iron chin, YES or NO would he have either won or given such a good performance against the likes of :

    1- Jean Pascal ?

    2- Jermain Taylor ?

    3- Andre Dirrell ?

    4- Arthur Abraham ?

    5- Mikkel Kessler ?

    6- Glenn Johnson ?

    7- Lucian Bute ?

    :good

It isn't just his iron chin, it's his iron will and general toughness that make him a bit special. What has always been overrated at him (by some, particularly early on) was his power.

If he had an average chin he would have lost to probably half the elite fighters he's faced. But like the above poster pointed out, he has pure heart, determination, granite balls, killer instinct etc.....his chin is kind of a bonus.

I think he may have lost the Jean Pascal fight after getting seriously tagged repetitively. Lets not forget that in between falls on the ground, Dirrell seriously hit him with flush counters that made him momentarily back up into a shell....

Amir Khan has an iron will also and that's what makes him want to exchange like he does when in the ring, but he certainly doesn't have the chin to back that will up. He needs to solely outbox his opponents if he wants lasting success.

If it wasn't for that top notch chin, I honestly think Froch just may have lost by eventual TKO against Pascal, Dirrell, Kessler & Johnson which was tagging him flush over and over again...

Nice thread, first i must tell you for me he is overachiever and great for the sport.
He would be stopped by Kessler he took really good shots, he would not walk through Bute like he did, because he took some very good counters from Bute like it was nothing, Dirrell had him hurt in 10th(to be fair it was end of the round) but would possibly lose that fight. He would beat Abraham, Froch totally outboxed him so i dont see it differently. Beats Pascal but than again if he did not have iron chin he can possibly lose to him.
But take away his heart and chin you took away his most important atributes that made him what he is.

Maybe... Pascal and Kessler more probably than Dirrell and Johnson imo.

He will have to adapt as he proved he already can and fight more defensively with full reliance on tactics and movement. It would take a lot more out of him but he can do it.

Frochowski's cheen is his best asset.

    That is saying something.

Technically he is a terrible boxer and defensively abysmal, so not well.

That's what I think too and also why I couldn't see him adapt his style in order to beat the top guys of his division, if he didn't have the iron chin that he has, even with the equivalent incredible will that he has deep inside...

    What a fabulous thread.
I often wonder how good Ray Leonard might have been (or not,as the case might have been) if he didn't have such a good boxing brain.
How good would Pernell have been if he didn't have such a tight grasp on the fundamentals of defence?
How good would Hearns have been if he didn't have a great jab and right cross?
What about Hagler? How good would he have been if he was white and didn't have such a solid head?

What the **** does it matter? His chin is one of his main attributes and this is a butthurt thread because Bute looked **** last night.
Can't believe it's actually had some serious answers.Would he even be fighting those guys if he didn't have a solid chin? Ridiculous!
How good would Ray Robinson have been if he only had one foot?
