Andre Ward vs Kelly Pavlik January 26th HBO....

Nothing in the article is any more official than has already been reported.

Still no location, which is rumored to be the big sticking point.

 

Yeah, Kelly is a HBO stalwart and one of their biggest names of the last 8 or so years. They're obviously getting him in as a bit of a sacrificial lamb to get Andre a bit more well known amongst the HBO fans.

I reckon they're betting there's a decent chance of Andre getting the stoppage here.

 

Good point. Two aggressive back-to-back performances where he's been able to stop opponents :think? Not a bad way to kick off your HBO career.

Ward of course have the right to a "soft" opponent, but what have Pavlik EVER done in SMW, actually what have he done since he beat Taylor.

 

I agree. With all the recent problem Pavlik had, I find this to be a joke fight.

Back in 2007 before Pavlik fought Jermain, there were literally like 5 of us (ESB posters) who gave Pavlik a chance.

It will be a tough fight for Pavlik, but it will be good to see him on the big stage again and its great that he is getting another shot.

And when Pavlik has been the underdog he has shocked people.

 

I hope Kelly can pull something out the bag and make a fight of this.

There's not many big fights that can be made at 168lbs right now for Andre Ward.

 

Ward will most definitely win but looking forward to it!

 

The latest word from Goossen was that Boardwalk Hall and MSG are available, and acceptable to both guys.

Some things happened that made it look like Ward/Goossen were probably trying to pressure Pavlik into fighting in Oakland, but we're past that now.
