When he's fighting on HBO Sergio draws in over 1 million viewers per fight which is comparable to Khan's numbers. http://www.maxboxing.com/news/max-b...half-posts-similar-ratings-from-greenburg-era
Exactly I aways hear people crying about this guy deserves a pay day...but I feel there are others more deserving for years. Furthermore, If he is 154lbs come down & stay down and fight, there was always competition there, Lara, Martiroysian, Kirkland, Molina, he did not want to fight these guys...for whatever reason.
Kirkland didn't want Martinez, nor did Angulo. Acting like Martirosyan has ever at any point wanted to fight anyone the least bit credible in the last 4 years is utterly laughable.
Bro...he aint gonna get the $ he deserves against anyone at 154 apart from Floyd or Canelo. Man has paid his dues, why the hell would he wanna fight the likes of Lara or Kirkland. He's at the end of his career, noone can blame him for wanting the big paydays before he has to retire.
Exactly, Cotto was not a career 154lbs, however he was confident & strong at the weight, unlike Mayweather. Floyd fought there twice, twice man & has never actually made 154LBS ON THE SCALES.
Fully understand people like the story...they want him to ride off into the sunset...with a cheque...me personally...I couldn't care less if he gets paid...but I believe Mayweather can beat him...and I'm getting tired of hearing the hype...so now I hope they make the fight...
Dip-****-- I slightly disagree with your reasoning and believe Martinez does in fact deserve a payday. To quote Max Kellerman "Belts Schmelts"... These are entirely political and there are a lot of weird behind the scenes things that go into it (you probably wouldn't think of as a pedestrian simpleton). Secondly, Martinez is managed by Lou DiBella, he generally doesn't have the pull of a Top Rank or Golden Boy. You need to base your assessment on who Martinez has fought and what he has accomplished. Looking at that, the brutal KO of Williams alone should be enough to warrant a significant payday. Finally, as you are a Brittard, I do respect your use of the Andre Ward avatar. Cheers and happy trolling.
You must just be a Martinez hater, any boxer whos accomplished what he has deserves to retire on a nice fat wedge
For some reason Floyd fans think he has to prove himself against the likes of Lara, Kirkland even though he has already achieved much more than all of them put together. If he can make 154lb he deserves it. He doesn't have to prove himself anymore.
Listen I respect everyone's perspective, thats why I made this thread "Who Believes Martinez Deserves A Pay Day?" The emphasis on who. You have your opinion thats fine, to call me a hater because I do not comply with the majority of people would be rather arrogant, don't you think. I am entitled to my own opinion, although we may disagree, good post.
Not calling u a hater - just trying to understand why u dont think he deserves a payday, must dislike the guy
