Kostya tszyu vs Manny Pacqiauo at 140

Hard one to call both have attributes that tend to give the other problems.

Tszyu losses to Phillips and Hatton suggest he could be beaten by guys that were able to pressure him and trade with him. Pac is durable enough and hit's hard enough at 140lbs to do so.

Pac is susceptible to the right hand and Tszyu had a monster right hand and the timing and accuracy to land it.

I'd favour Pac. I think he has proven he has a good enough chin to not get blown away like so many other of Tszyu opposition and the power he has at 140lbs while not at Tszyu's level is good enough to hurt Tszyu. Tszyu isn't as agile as Marquez and I see him getting hit more making this a battle of attrition. Pac's work rate and intensity get's to Tszyu eventually though Pac may have to pick himself up of the floor to get the victory.

 

Kostya is a bit of a predictable guy, despite his impressive resume and reign. SLOW for 140 lbs, double the jab and double the right hand, sometimes triple the jab. I feel like his power kept guys honest, but that wouldn't work against Pac, who is light years tougher than Sharmba Mitchell. Tszyu looked very limited against guys who took his shots, like Phillips and Oktay Urkal, and Zab lit him up pretty good before the one shot that won the fight.

I think Cotto beats Kostya.

 

Manny would be too much for KT. I think an early rd. stoppage would be very likely.

 

Depends on whether or not Manny's juicing.

kt can ko you with both hands. one of the best 140lbers ever. good footwork, jab, chin, power in both hands, straight right, left hook, cross...prime kt wouldve killed any 140lber today.

 

and kt pretty much fired his entire camp after that fight as he admittingly was slacking off with bad people around him.

referencing the vince fight would be a disservice such as mccall/lewis.

 

Would have been a barn burner to be sure. Manny would handle business late in the fight but Kostya wouldn't lay down.. Would definitely be a fun one to watch.

 

Prime Zab isn't as tough as Pac. Maybe P4P Zab is faster but manny throws far faster combinations than zab and would slice Tszyu up.

 

On the other hand, I would even call pac CHERRY PICKER if he fights Tszyu! :rofl

Complete nonsense. You have to understand why JMM was able to land on Pac. He's an active counter-punch/boxer who has fought Pac for 36 rounds. Experience has helped JMM far more than people can imagine.

Kostya is also different from JMM and doesn't fight in the same style. He's not a boxer/counter puncher and doesn't have the intelligent foot work of JMM. Tsyzu is more of a stalker who would take the fight to Pac, allowing Pac to counter him instead.

i never thought of this match up before. no doubt pacquiao's use of angles and non stop punching would give tsyzu some problems, but i'm not sure if pacquiao has the physicality to control kostya tszyu and stop him from coming forward. this is a really hard one to call but my gut tells me kostya would take it.

 

Tszyu would have koed him easily.
