Some of you guys have got to watch this fight again. A competitive hardfought fight by both for sure. I dont know how the others feel yet, I'm feeling just looking at the thread titles that most of you feel Marquez was robbed. Indeed he was, its as simple as that. .....but I did'nt really expect anything other than what the judges rendered. I think most of us knew that if Pac was even semi-competitive, which he was. He would win on the cards. I said it before hand, that I felt that JMM needed to win 9 clear rounds to even have a chance at the decision. Well he did, but there was a knockdown there and so what can you expect? He did'nt get it! :nut :-( The HBO crew was wack as usual. Harold Lederman is a complete disgrace. For Gods sake, just look at how the fighters comported themselves in the ring interview afterward. Marquez' head held up high, knowing he did the job to win......and Paquiao actually speaking with his head held down, almost feeling ashamed. .....but this is boxing, I would'nt expect anything more from a sport that has a long and illustrious history of being corrupt, that they must actually be proud of it. I'll sign off and go for a long run at 10pm LA time, I need to workout my frustration of what just happened. Let me just add that I'm extremely proud of of the fight that both Warriors put fourth tonight. Epic, just a tremendous fight. Marquez stylistically dominating as I expected, but Pacquiao at every moment being dangerous and leaving you at the edge of your seat that something could happen at any moment. :happy :happy :happy to both fighters. Its not their fault that they compete in a corrupt sport! Since you all know I'm a big JMM fan, I just want to let everyone know that since I have come to expect these types of decisions, I'm not mad, but a little frustrated that once again, JMM does'nt get his proper due in the record books. Congratulations too both fighters who put fourth and fought the fights they intended. I'll leave off and come back in a couple of hours, as I go for that run. In the meantime, here's my scorecard...... Rounds 1,2,5,6,7,8,9,11, and 12 for JMM! Rounds 2,3, and 10 for Pacquiao! Round 3 was a 10-8 for Pac. I thought that round 8 was so oneside in favor of JMM that I scored it 10-8 for him. Pac was completely battered in that round. 9-3 or 116-110 for JMM. There was'nt a whole lot of close rounds, maybe one or two, but overall and easy fight to score imo. 116-110 spells robbery.....and once again, just as I predicted, JMM finished the stronger of the two winning rounds 11 and 12! Give me some feedback and your scores, and I'll be back after a while!
The 12th round decided the fight, and JMM won it CLEARLY, yet one judge had it for Pac. Utter disgrace. Could have paved the way for a great trilogy.
No even if that judge scores it for JMM it would have still been a split for Pac. The score would have been 114 - 113 Pac on his card instead of the 115 - 112.
You zap your credibilty by asserting that JMM got a 10-8 round. That's absurd. You scored the fight for Marquez. I scored the fight for Marquez. But you gave him all benefit of the doubt, and certainly there was no clear winner. Stop crying. It was a 50/50 bout and that's how history will remember it, your protestations notwithstanding. A 10-8 round for Marquez. Pshhaw.
I am saddened by the disgraceful decision. Marquez should have taken this victory and Pacquiao will run away after getting the snot kicked out of him. It is only fair and I hope that there is a rematch after this.
I believe in one round JMM landed 25 punches to pacs 5. I think you can make a case for a 10-8 round given the dominance of JMM in that round.
Disgraceful? Please. Why not at least post your scorecard. Me: JMM -- 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12 With 1, 7 and 11 being close. Could have gone either way.
Divac, how come you always got the Mexican guy winning??? Just playing bro.... But seriously, your card is laughable. NO FREAKIN WAY that fight was that far apart....to either man. (BTW I had Marquez winning by a round...)
Yep, Marquez clearly won that round, but you don't hand out a 10-8 (w/o a KD) unless there is serious damage being done. There's no reasonable argument to be made that Marquez deserved a 10-8. The drama was Pac messing with his eye, and even then he didn't get badly hurt.
Very true. And during the round he was actually throwing punches (tho landing few), it wasnt like he was on his bike getting beat to a pulp. It was a clear round to Marquez...but a 10-8...NO ****IN WAY!
