Hes much taller,and bigger. And moves just as fast

 

and doesn't hit as hard and isn't as aggressive and doesn't throw more than a jab very often a jab alone would not keep Frazier from getting close to him not saying he'd beat him, it isn't ridiculous imo to think he would stand a chance though.

 

Who has this "current version" of Wlad faced thats after convincing people he is the best ever? What great elite fighter has he proven himself against to earn this current status? Its all a load of nonsense.

 

I honestly think if Joe Calzaghe would've fought Wlad after he destroyed Jones, then Calz would've won a close UD. Reckon he could've easily put the weight on and carry his speed to HW.

I think he'd threw his game plan by the window once under the right kind of pressure. It can happen to everybody. Peter tried it, but was way too limited. Sanders had what it took... for 4 rounds.

I think a Sanders clone could do it again. BTW, some people won't agree but if Haye had half the brain he has, I think he'd have put Klitschko on his ass... but Haye is a guy who's already thinking about his after career and does't want to talk like Mayweather Sr. Can't blame him, but you can't beat a giant with good mobility and who hits like a brick like Klitschko while worrying about your future.

Klitschko didn't lose to a prime Sanders.

the point is, the result is more of an anomolous destruction rather than an exploitable weakness imo.

 

Once you're outside the top 5 greatest HW, it is true that most résumés can be interpreted in many ways. Look at Jack Dempsey !

 

Lennox lewis beat alot of future world champions and like 4 out of 5 undisputed champions of his era.


Wladimir is an great boxer but he isn't exactly fighting live opposition.

However when It's all said and done I think Wladimir will go down as one of the greatest Heavyweights and preceed Joe's record with title defenses.

I got a lot of respect for your boxing knowledge, you're one of the best posters I've come across on this site. And you may be right about few being able to beat this current version, but I have a few issues with your post. First, Nearly every all time great at his peak would be very difficult for any other fighters to defeat.

Wlad is an excellent fighter and will be remembered as an ATG unlike his brother, but Im totally baffled by your statement of his "highly technical defensive ability". This is one of the biggest misconceptions in boxing today, that the jab and grab, lean on your opponent style of fighting is a good defense. A good defense opens your opponent up for counters while making him miss. Parrying punches (Wlad occasionaly does that), Slipping puches (he hardly ever does that), and blocking punches are key defensive abilities that make your opponent miss and open him up. Wlad is content to hug or back straight up (a dangerous tactic in the eyes of most trainers) until the danger has passed. It seems he needs to reset himself to get ready to attack again. This in itself could prove very dangerous against many fighters in history. Wlad is a great fighter, but lets not forget who he's fighting against today.
