Who Believes Martinez Deserves A Pay Day?

Martinez has already said a million times he doesnt want to fight Pacman and that hes too small.

Theres a slew of other interviews where he says the same.

Talks of him vs Pac happened when Pac was fighting at 150 So yes.... Martinez said he would fight Pac at a weight Pac was already fighting at, shocker! He has then went on to say in multiple interviews that actually Pac is too small and that he would rather fight Floyd.

Couldnt make 154 for Williams 2? Seeing as how Martinez only went to 160 in the first place because of williams (williams being the only one who would fight Martinez, and wanted to do it at middleweight because he was gonna fight Pavlik)

All talks of his weight before and after the fight in terms of making the weight besides half ass rumors were that he made it fine. And even after the Williams fight, when asked where Martinez would be comfortable at, they say he can fight at 154 or 160, no problems.

So unless youre just chatting ****, provide a source saying the weight they fought at in the rematch was because of Martinez. Doubt you will find one because that wasnt the case at all.

It was actually Williams people that wanted the catchweight so that they could both come in lighter but still fight for the middleweight title, not because Martinez couldnt make 154 atsch If anything, Martinez conceding to the catchweight is a credit to martinez. He conceded to a weight after he was middleweight champion against a guy who just beat him a few fights earlier.

Youre not calling anything as it is, whether you are doing it on purpose or just are really mis-informed on the history is the better topic.

Bottom line

* Martinez wanted to fight Mayweather at a weight Mayweather has fought at.
* Martinez wanted to fight Pac at a weight Pac has fought at, and later corrected himself to say that Pac was just too small and that it wouldnt be fair, and then moved on.
* Williams 2 was fought at a catchweight for Williams, so that he could still fight for the middleweight title (Williams held no titles at the time). Martinez was THE middleweight champion in their rematch, why in the hell would they fight at 154?
* You dont know what youre talking about on this subject.


You are harping on a complete non issue (a Martinez vs Pac fight) and doing it horribly.

 

I hear you, but champions (real champions not just trinket holders) move 1 up and 1 down in weight and get shots at the champions at the new weight all the time. I dont see why Martinez should be the exception of having to re-establish himself at a weight hes already been at before.

Nonito didnt fight anyone at 112 before moving down and challenging Darchinyan there
Dawson didnt have to fight anyone at 168 before he he moved down and fought Ward
Marquez didnt even have a fight above 135 before he fought Mayweather at 147
Pac didnt fight above 140 before he fought Cotto above it.
Lopez never had a fight above welter before he challenged Canelo for his title
Ortiz never fought above 140 before fighting Berto (champion) at 147
Roy Jones fought Ruiz for a title before even having a fight at cruiser or heavyweight



Just in that list alone, Canelo, Cotto and Mayweather (guys relivent to this discussion) have fought guys that never fought at that weight before they accepted their challenge. Because its an accepted and established routine in boxing.... that top fighters and kings of their divisions usually move up and down in weight fighting the other 'kings' without having to establish (and in this instance, re-establish) themselves at that weight.

Most of these fights were greeted with anticipation as two 'kings' clashing.... when its Martinez all of a sudden you have all these fans of certian fighters (not saying you in particular) talking about how unfair it is.

Its obvious Martinez gets an unfair shake on ESB, seems to be usually from fans of certain fighters who want anything but their fighter to have to face him.
