`kin hell what a **** up IJLs face just before the decision was announced was priceless, he knew he had ****ing up big time paul smith had it spot on in the pre fight presser though, enzo should not of been in there in the 1st place and that had to of played a big part in lewis`s decision to jump in
is right **** Ian John Lewis, deserves everything he gets the corrupt ****, I loved seeing him getting humiliated
that was a disgrace, I remember my uncle shouting **** OFF REFEREE at the TV when IJL stopped that one, getting his just deserts for his itchy trigger finger edit: and is it a bad sign that I warned everyone that might happen when I saw Ian was the wefewee?
He robbed Maccarinelli of a chance to win a fight he was losing but in control of. He robbed the fans of seeing a good fight. He robbed any gamblers who had a bet on something other than the early stoppage. He robbed McKenzie of a chance to win the fight legitimately and progress his career. IJL is a ****ing joke. He's inept beyond belief and it's crazy he still has a job.
That's the bigger issue here. Ovill may well have gone on to stop Enzo, but now its a fairly meaningless W on his results column. He's not had much luck with refs in his career, just look the first Bellew match.
If I made as many mistakes as IJL in my job I would probably cause a gas explosion, kill some people and get banged up for manslaughter, there is no excuse in whatever job you do.
Yep. Fighters deserve an opportunity and the paying public deserves a fight. No one wants to see anyone get hurt... but I mean boxing is at least partly about savage battles. This sport is supposed to be brutally violent.
If you trained and dieted for ten weeks and that happened to you I think your opinion would be different
hes either bent or incompetent. either way that should be his last fight. i think he reffed the bjs fight with fletcher as well. the guy had flown all the way over from aus to get denied even the chance to fight. the worst thing is that fighters are getting soft wins in the uk and then having problems moving up to world level.
Anybody who saw what happened to Enzo in the Frenkel fight would have a bit of sympathy for IJL. I would rather see IJL make that mistake last night 10 times over rather than do what the ref did in the Frenkel fight. As soon as he stepped in last night the fight was over. In his mind Enzo had taken too much and having a look at him was just a token gesture. He was fully expecting Enzo's eyes to be all over the place but as soon as he looked at him he realised his mistake. If he had let the fight continue he would have been ridiculed for being indecisive. IJL made a mistake, and it was a bad one. However, he had Enzo's best interest at heart, just like the rest of us. We're all pissed off because the fight was getting interesting and we feel short changed.
But this bore no resemblance to that. The fight should have been stopped when Enzo got up, clearly unable to continue. Enzo hadn't even gone down and looked as if he was in control of his senses. Well, now he's being ridiculed for making a completely arbitrary decision and, what's annoying people, it's not the first time. The moment he intervened he made a mistake. Enzo's hands were up, he was moving on the ropes, he was throwing punches. "He's had some bad knockouts" isn't valid criteria to stop a fight when he's still on his feet. If that was the case, they should just call a stoppage the instant he gets punched, just in case. No, we're all pissed off because he's completely useless at his job. Whether it's scoring or officiating, he shows no understanding of the sport. He seems incapable of reading a fight or the fighters involved. Defending him because it's better too soon than too late is weak. Boxing is a hurt game. How come guys like Mickey Vann and Kenny Bayless get it right consistently, but IJL doesn't? It's because he's too busy thinking about something other than the fight.
