How can Wladimir impress?

Volo is just not the kind of fighter that impresses the general public with anyone whether they are very good or very poor opponents, typically. It's not in his nature anymore. He's impressive to hardcore fans for his ability to make his deficiencies count for so little and his strengths count for so much and continue to win without faltering for all these years. He's historically impressive for his winning ability.

He's not a spectacular type of impressive. He doesn't walk in and blow someone out because he can. He knows the risk. He's not taking it. He's a strategy man. And it's not strategy to impress. It's strategy to win. And he likely won't be spectacular come Wach-time either (although just as a matter of odds we might be due to run into an Austinesque thing right now). In short, don't worry about him impressing in anything more than a career sense. Don't hold your breath. He is what he is. A great long-running winner. Not a spectacular fight-by-fight fighter.

Hold behind the back of the head and uppercut him into Bolivian(sic) and manage not to get DQ'd for no apparent reason? I don't want him to do that.

Bull****. Nobody knows what to expect by Wach, we know what Wlad brings. To be fair nobody really knows what Wach's chin is like, if it's iron we might see a longer fight. At least try to sound unbiased huh Jack, make an effort would you?

 

To be fair, Golota was suffering from lidocaine toxicity during that fight

 

It'll be interesting to see what happens without Mannys guidance here, often-times you would hear Manny urging Wlad to be more aggressive and throw more right hands as it starts to reach the mid-way point of fights and you can see that he would struggle to drive the point home at times.

Manny taught him to defend his weakness behind that tall jab and he's clearly comfortable doing that.

I wonder if his new corner will push the same or just allow Wlad to fight his fight own way ... i'd like to see Wlad push himself to be aggressive when the fight needs it.
