Why the question? Its not like it hasnt been done before. Tire him and make him quit. He saves his stamina and doesnt throw unnecessary punches, but if you have a good chin and apply pressure you can force him to throw more than he is accostomed to and take him out in the later rounds (Ross Purrity, Lamon Brewster losses) Apply pressure and make him uncomfortable, throw in combinations when you hurt him (Corrie Sanders loss, even Wach when had him hurt and started throwing more than one punch at a time had him in trouble for a short time) Someone like Mike Tyson would be a nightmare for Wladimir.
Thats true, you probably have a better chance if you are not scared shitless, like the guy in your avatar was. That being said, those fights occurred almost a decade ago. Totally different fighter after years with Steward. 16 straight wins now, I believe. 13 straight title defenses without being knocked down, barely ever losing a round. Thats pretty crazy ****, even the haters would have to admit. :hey This content is protected
I can't believe people are actually basing the fight against Wach as a measure of how "tough" it is to beat Wlad. Wach is absolute trash, Wlad hitting the heavy bag would be a better spectacle [although he is a tough guy, I'll give him credit for that, he showed a lot of heart]. The problem is the heavyweight division is crap, and Wlad won't even be tested. He is certainly a great heavyweight, and would give a lot of ATGs fits, and beat a lot of them too. But it's a shame we can't see him in a quality, deep HW division to see how good he really is.
Mike Tyson never had super stamina, his style needed a lot of stamina and he would tire rather quickly. You would need an upsized Roberto Duran or Chavez Sr.
If amateur fights don't count why would you rate Price at all? He's done nothing in the pros - his best win is against Audley Harrison, ffs.
I believe that the Golota from '96, the one who easily beat Bowe twice, would be a nightmare for Wlad, and could stop him.
I was surprised by his lack of body attack too. With shorter opponents, I can see why he has neglected the body in his previous fights. Against Wach though, he really should have done more work to the body. Wach was wide open, for the straight right / right hook to body. Also, Wlad should have followed his straight rights to the head with hard left hooks to the body. Wach was also wide open for the right uppercut to the head following a jab or feint, but Wlad didn't throw one single uppercut from mid range. Wach would have walked onto this.
You need to rush him, rough him up. Relentless, brutal pressure. Wild power shots with no hesitation, repeatedly, combo after combo until he gets confused. You need someone like a HW Margarito.
Sanders would always be a hard fight for Wlad he didn't land a lucky punch but did just destroyed him he would even be a hard fight for todays Wlad. Wlad is very good but not unbeatable he would have been in HUGE trouble if any version of Lewis would have landed the shot Wach did in the 5th round
All you have to do is try and if you punch him he will turn into a giant paper weight and you will have the title. This isn't rocket science. Volo is there for the taking for anyone that tries and lands just once. That's why it's so bizarre that even in a division that couldn't be any worse that Volo hasn't been decimated. It's simply a matter of no one cares enough to try because they wouldn't win anything significant. There's no money in it or fame. No one knows who they are and they fight in back alleys for no more than very small bragging rights amongst a bunch of giant boxer fetishists.
A good inside fighter who can get close land on the body and follow through with uppercuts ala Mike Tyson. The only problem is actually getting close to Wlad which is pretty damn hard.
