a great display of an experienced Champion exhibiting all of his skill, power and assortment of punch combo's Wlad looked great but although Wach was exposed or I should say unfortunate to be in with one of the best, experienced and hardest hitters in the game but I have to say I dont think Tex Cobb would have been able to last vs last nights Vlad George Chuvalo may have hit the deck or been busted up so badly they would have had to stop it Oliver McCall may have lasted but more than likely had a break down like he did vs Lennox in rematch i have to say Vlad impressed me with his ability which was show cased vs a larger man than himself.....If Wach is not damaged from this fight he has a bright future vs anyone else...27-1 he should learn something from this I don't think I ever seen a man take so many punches from a man that can punch extremely hard with either hand ....Wach showed great heart and durability ...he has a place in the top 10
Wlad was teeing off, but for the most part, he was loading up. If Wach has another display like that against a guy whose landing more big, SNEAKY, punches, I'll sign off on this, but I want to wait a bit.
I will withold judgment for now. It is always dangerous to proclaim a fighter to have an all time chin, based on somebody failing to stop them.
i agree but how much has zale's ability to stay standing under marcel's assault or lamotta's determine in robinson 4 done for their chins' respective placements in history? they'd go down as having great chins but i think their "all time" status comes down to a handful or even one showing. sometimes one or two fights makes a career, even if it's in terms of the abuse you can take
sometimes a fight can ruin a guy so he may fall quick in his next fight but most of the guys i know who have fought Vlad said he can really whack and he caught Wach, with the hooks that KO'd Austin, the rights that flattened Brock and the jabs that drunken ed many...time will tell but for me right now I am impressed with the beating he withstood....Vlad did not go to the body much though and that may have been key
i thought it odd for banks to suggest wlad go to the body (think he said jab the body) after like the 1st round but that may have been a great strategy. banks might have seen something and realized "****, we have to wear this ******* down"
Sometimes fighters can display inhuman chin in one fight then get dropped by more innocuous punches the next. Corrie Sanders springs to mind. Took huge punishment against Vitali without going down, but gets dropped and stopped by journeymen. Wach may well have a legendary chin, but he'll need to fight a few more big punchers to really gauge it.
Jesus Christ, the punches he shipped in the 8th were unbelievable, especially if you consider he was in with one of the hardest hitters ever. Granted, mid round 8, Wach didn't seem to be there 100%, but he was still on his feet and throwing the odd jab. That round reminded me off a young Wlad, when he stopped Mercer in the 6th. I would not have trouble if Eddie Cotton stopped it, save what's left of Wach. But then, when has Cotton ever done a good job refereeing? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbAdpaaX4xI[/ame]
Wlads power is overrated I've never seen anyone give out everything like Wlad did and still not be able to get their opponent out or at least down ... especially in a heavyweight fight ... Tyson, Lewis and others would've had Wach out of there
I still dont see why people think wlad is special, he looked far from impressive to me. I think the likes of tyson, lewis and holyfield in their primes would have a field day with him. His power is way overated
