i thought he gave wladimir very good advise in the fight/ especially when wlad got rocked in the 5th rd/ banks told wlad to just box the next round and use his legs = great advice YOUR THOUGHTS?
any trainer wouldve said exactly the same thing. i mean what did you expect him to say after rd 5? "go and bring the fight to wach and get KTFO vlad!".:think anyways vlad fought exactly the same way with banks as he did with steward, which means he doesnt need banks since all steward taught him has been stored in his mind already...
Yeah he did well I thought, it wasn't only the advice that I thought was good but he was very calm and composed when telling Wlad what he wanted from him.
He did as well as expected. At this point however, a boxer like Wlad does really need a trainer. It's the same way with boxers like Mayweather. You could bring in average joe boxing fan as trainer for the fight and they would still win. Steward never really had to dispense much strategy to Wlad mid fight.
At this point, Wlad doesn't need someone to tell him what to do. He knows. He needs someone to carry his spit bucket, basically. I'm not saying that to demean Banks at all, but it's just that at this point, Wlad is the finished article. If Banks can take a novice and do something with him, then we can talk.
But if Wlad's potential limit is not reached yet then a good trainer can still teach him something important for his development. And motivation and good advices between rounds alone can do miracles.
It isn't like he taught Klitschko anything - but from the sound of it (still have yet to see it) he provided ample support in the role of "motivational speaker", which is one small facet of the chief second's job with most of the more vital ones taking place during camp. :conf
He did a good job leashing Wlad in after round 5, he told him he was leaning his head to far into his punches. Wlad corrected it, and went on to sweep.
:good Johnathon made a very good job. After the fifth round, very calm very good advices. Great team Wlad and Johnathon Banks. :good This content is protected
