"Martinez underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus in his right knee which he suffered during his fight with Chavez Jr. This fight against Murray will serve as test to make sure he will be 100% before he faces top opposition once again."

Not bad based on the circumstances I guess.... I really wanted to see him against Golovkin, Geale or Mayweather though.........

its a solid fight...i kind of want him to come down to 154 and fight there in hopes of getting Floyd in the ring.

Decent tune-up before he fights bigger fights. It means he won't be fighting Canelo in May, that sucks, but oh well.

he had tune ups all before the chavez fight.

    martinez vs murray april
    ggg vs TBA jan 29
    quillen vs TBA feb 9
    geale vs mundine ?
    pirog vs ?
    chavez jr vs ?

yeah "not a bad fight" i guess its common for everyone to accept these days. heaven forbid you have 2 decent fights in a row, let alone 1. typical champions fighting everyone but the best after saying after their last fight they only want to fight the best...yada yada yada

Wow, I was expecting him to take an easier fight coming off an injury...

That is pretty good as I said in the other thread. But I also heard that Murray is just a " strong frontrunner " and guys like Dominico Spada, Kerry Hope were also being considered as possibilities.

Fight's fine, but only for the reason that Martinez is coming off knee surgery and there's going to be a lower purse for a fight in Argentina than in the States. Hopefully Chavez loses again so he can fight one of the other top middleweights in the second half of the year, though knowing DiBella, that would just cause him to make a Macklin rematch instead.
