As a late replacement I'm pretty pleased actually. Johnson certainly has the tools to at least test Fury. He is just such a lazy boxer, very frustrating, he should have won the Prizefighter convincingly in my opinion. He has only lost twice, once to Tor Hamer in Prizefighter and then to Vitali via UD. He didn't really test Vitali that night but one thing he did show is durability, and as long as he is in decent shape for the fight with Fury then that alone may show us something. I know Fury has been the distance on more than one occasion but it would be good to see it happen again, and also it would be good to see if he could stop Johnson. Johnson has not been stopped yet, I'm not to sure if he has actually been knocked down? Did he stay on his feet against Vitali?! Anyway, not the best I agree but I have seen far far worse last minute replacement opponents!
Good fight on such short notice, well done fat Mick There should be some good banter between Fury & KJ, I think the fight will be similar to Bowe-Tubbs with Fury struggling to land anything significant on Johnson but winning rounds on workrate whilst KJ makes Tyson look poor but fails to mount any serious offensive effort.
Press conference will be fun.... Fury has **** banter (i hate that word btw but couldnt think of a better one) Johnson will totally own Fury outside the ring, Fury ****s him up inside the ring
If Johnson comes to the fight in any sort of shape he might win a decision over Fury. More likely he loses by controversial decision against Fury. I know Johnson isn't much good but I'm surprised he's considered so bad that he'll get stopped by Fury. Last time I checked Johnson was pretty durable, cagey too. Of course, 3 weeks notice, Johnson might come in horrible shape and get battered.
Not sure about that, Fury is an intimidating bloke, he had Chisora scared stiff and made him back down that time, and chisora didn't try his usual antics at the presser, because he was shook. Johnson will be the same
I think Johnson is going to make Fury look bad. Despite his incredibly irritating inactivity in the ring, he is durable and elusive. He'll make Fury miss a lot, Fury won't be able to stop him, but he'll like lose a UD. Americans and Brit haters will flock on here to deride Fury following what looks like a poor performance, but will fail to realise that Johnson is just a spoiler. Even Vitali looked poor against him, don't expect Fury to shine. It's a shame actually, I hope a 'bad' performance doesn't persuade him that his recent efforts getting in shape were a not a good idea.
I think Johnson will be too inactive to get lose a questionable decision. I believe that we'll all be irritated to **** with him following the fight though. One question I have about Fury that this may answer is how patient he can be when he is winning easily but being constantly frustrated. He could well leave himself open and get caught with something big. However, I believe Fury will win a frustrating, but clear UD.
The main thing fury has to do is pace himself, just keep Johnson on the end of the jab, win rounds and don't worry about stopping him. Alex Leapai was beating Johnson but he gassed out and Johnson came to life and stopped him so fury needs to avoid wailing away at Johnsons gloves all night
Yep, that's my main concern. I hope Fury's team is aware that is Johnson's best hope. My only other concern is that Johnson does have a decent jab, along with a decent reach (albeit smaller than Fury). Johson does have good timing, and Fury could find the battle of the jabs a less predictable way to victory. A high output and fighting from the outside should suffice.
Johnson is at least a very good counter-puncher. I doubt he'll be as negative against Fury, who presents lots of opportunities to punch. But I still see the big, Pikey **** winning.
Johnson never looks in particularly good shape and never really goes for it, he'll probably start off ok with his hand speed and movement confusing Fury but then gas a bit and once he ships a bit of punishment will just hold on. I don't think Fury will try and bomb him out he'll fight for the 12 rounds behind his jab throwing combinations when possible to see out a points victory. Johnson at 3 weeks notice is not going to have put the road work in and the fact that he is coming over to the UK to fight in Prizefighter says to me he is just hawking himself about for pay days against contenders. If I am wrong and he and he's in reasonable condition he gives Fury trouble though and could make it exciting!
I'm interested to see what shape Fury turns up in and how it will affect him in the ring, claims to be in the best shape of his life.
Fury's workrate, variety, range and movement and aggression will overwhelm Johnson over the stretch. Good fight and Johnson will have his moments but i think he'll start to fade out of the fight and Fury will win on points.
