There is such a thing as overtraining, and Hatton looked very much like an overtrained fighter.

you don't just keep getting better and better, otherwise training camps would last year round.

For an athletic event like boxing, you train toward a peak, then taper down and carry that peak into the ring

Overtraining happens when you peak, and go past it to the point that your muscles begin to seize, you loose too much weight and lactic acid kicks in, your muscles start to atrophy

These are human beings, not super heroes ffs

    Who's crying like?

You said "watch the Hatton v Paulie first fight" to back up your point. I pointed out that fight was four years ago. Your basing the potential re-match on a fight that happened four years ago, you keep saying Paulie hasn't improved...as a fighter he probably hasn't, but he has had much more convincing performances since the Hatton fight. He could of been much better in the Hatton fight, he didn't maximise his potential at all in that fight. The Paulie that fought Senchenko beats the Ricky Hatton of today in my opinion. Ricky Hatton hasn't won a fight in four years. It is very fair to assume he will of declined, being so inactive for so long, after putting his body through the **** he has.

Lets wait and see what happens if and when the fight happens. If I'm wrong i will hold my hands up.

I think there was more to it than that, but hopefully you're right and it was a one off. He did look ****in dreadful though, in every way. I'd love it if he comes back firing on all cylinders.

Obviously you have rest periods and you do things a certain way to ensure you're at peak ability in the ring. I just find it hard to believe that Hatton who has had 47 pro fights and many more amateur fights, somehow hadn't worked out what he needed to do in a training camp to make sure that he was in that condition. A man of his experience suddenly trains in a totally different way to all his other fights and spars too many rounds, loses the weight too quickly and is then reduced to a skeleton?

I don't buy it, maybe the camp didn't go well but I can't accept that his poor showing was down to too much training. It was probably down to getting back down to LWW instead of WW and simply having lost something over the years. He has been looking pretty slim for a while now, if he loses to Senchenko is he going to say the same thing?

"I lost the weight too quickly, I over trained"

There's only so far you can make that go, even if he did over train, it's still his own fault, he's not exactly a novice and if doesn't know what works best for him then it's no excuse on the night.

Does anyone think Ricky would not have comeback if Hatton Promotions still had a deal with Sky

I know he's earnt a lot of money but he must have a lot of people on his payroll, and with no tv deal, there can't be much income at all

I can't see Senchenko stopping Hatton but I can see him out Boxing him, I might be alone with this but I'm not excited by his comeback.

Hatton has had two fights as a welterweight and IMO has lost both.

I think he'll have trouble bullying a fresher, bigger guy.

His style ain't for fighters in their twilight. But I am interested in his general fitness as it always affected him in the later rounds.

All guess work though, we'll know soon enough.

Even if Hatton was still in his “semi-prime” I’d still be worried for him.

He’s never looked good at WW when he was at his peak. Senchenko is a career welter, he looks pretty big as well. Hatton is coming off the most brutal KO imaginable, hes been abusing his body for years with booze and coke. Hardly good prep for a comeback?

Lets not forget, Hatton was never a KO artist either. He’d wear an opponent down with relentless pressure & persistence. Is he still going to have that stamina? What happens if he Senchenko starts to walk him down?
