There ws me happily agreeing about Hide and you throw in a stat like that! :happy

I can't deny it, its a good point made well.

It would be difficult to amass a winning record like that, at the level Hide fougth at, with too much of a dodgy chin.

Hide is off my list.

 

I know this is not Boxing but every time I see a worst chin thread this man always comes to mind.

Yes, even with a record of 49-4.

Looking at his losses, apart from the TKO loss due to a cut, he was like bounced up and down like a yo-yo. Bowe had him all over the shop. Look at the finishing punches from Vitali. He almost ran into his chest and looked like he's been hit with sledgehammer. Plus, when a fighter like Chingangu puts you down, what, 3 - 4 times and stops you in two rounds.......he's definitley a contender in my humble opinion.

 

Was going with Scrap Iron Ryan but then saw Herbie`s name come up. Close call but I think Hide gets it.

 

I think when we say Hide perhaps we mean 'worst chin on a high profile fighter'? :think

In all honesty there have got to be literally thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of boxers from history who have worse chins than Herbie bloody Hide!

 

Errol christie - had a chin like a chandelier.

everytime he was caught with a full shot he been on his arse.

watson,cook,kaylor all flattened him and quite few others.

 

Hide doesn't even come out on top for worst chin in a list of former British heavyweight champions, let alone one that is trying to find the worst punch resistance ever...

 

I think Kirkland in the Ishida is one of the worst.

 

Hide clearly had a weak chin, and wasn't blessed defensively either.

I think Harrison had a shakier chin though - but because of his length and sheer panic when anyone went near him he was harder to catch clean with something decent.

Plus, it's one thing being levelled by Bowe or a relatively hard punching, near prime Vitali, than being one punched into kingdom come by a journeyman in Michael Sprott.

Of fighters that campaigned at world level, you'd have to say Enzo. As weak as Khan has looked, he's at least got the survival against Maidana to his credit.

Enzo couldn't cling on against Haye when he was being missed by about a million wild hooks from all angles before the right hand dropped him.... sparked by Ola, and then felled like a tree by Frenkel.

 

And Harrison returned the favour to Sprott, which doesn't say much for Sprott's chin. How many times has Sprott been stopped? Plenty, yet nobody seems to call him chinny.

Audley only gets grief because he's not well liked, and people judge him on the level of fighter he was "supposed" to be, rather than the British level fighter he really was.

 

I think Brian Sutherland deserves a special mention.
