Kessler almost QUIT vs Ward or wanted out

    ** foot note** I like Kessler, not a super fan but i think he is a cool guy.
    with that said...facts are facts...

    and this is how the conversation goes because i watched it and rewound 10 times as i'm typing the timeline and what was said.....anyone doubts this,

    After getting outboxed, out punched, beat up, roughed up we go to the meat of the topic when
    kessler is hinting about getting out this fight.

    these are stone cold facts in order ....

    In Between Rounds 10, 11 the Dr comes into Kesslers corner to look at the 2nd cut

    the ref informs kesslers corner that it came from a head butt as the dr is applying pressure..

    DING ROUND 11

    ward stalks him for 1 minute or so until....

    Gus : Lead right Hand connecting by Ward!
    (opens up cut on the eye lid)

    Al Bernstein : Andre Ward is taking every chance in the world and getting away with it Kessler not getting it.

    (Ref sees he is cut, takes him to the ring apron)
    (Dr steps up on ring apron) and the ref says "its on the eye lid this time"
    (Dr still looking at it)...
    (Kessler quiet as a mouse after the long last look at the eye lid)
    Dr : " I'm gonna stop"

    That is just as much of a quit job as what all you bitches want to label Dawson as...... there is NO DIFFERENCE

    I dont blame Dawson for quitting, he took a beating for 9,10 rounds

    and had Kessler said the words, i wouldnt blame him either, i felt bad for his schooling and he was simply out matched


    i could have posted a **** youtube vid of the footage, but its not clear and as audible as my home copy

    I agree, he was a "beaten" man and Ward broke his spirit, it's not to disrespect Kessler but as you said you can see when a fighter is done. He knew he was overmatched, had taken a beating, and was ready to quit but to his credit (I guess) his pride kept him going back for more until it was stopped.

    I don't see sufficient evidence that Kessler wanted to quit, although clearly he was having a damn hard time keeping his spirits up. I am however to this day dissapointed that Kessler simply refused to give Ward any credit for his performance in the postfight interview, and has continued to do so ever since, especially because he always tries to come off as a gentleman and a nice guy.

    That fight was atrocious. Shameful performance by Ward. I used to think Clottey would lead with the head too much, but this dude full on lunges head first at Kessler. I couldn't believe it.

    What you just described was no schooling, unless you think head butting is part of boxing. You just described Kessler getting head butted to death. Continuously getting concussive head-buts.
