Both guys tried to end it with one shot early in that round. This is an interesting style contrast.

Santana clearly won that round. Garcia needs to shorten up some of his shots or he's going to get clipped hard on the way in.

    Round 1

Santana puts up a turtle shell and tries to angle in on Garcia, who keeps him honest with a towel-snap left jab and some reaching rights. Santana is wobbled by a right hand but steadies himself on one foot; seeming more off balance than hurt. Santana might be clowning a bit already, or trying not to show the effect of Garcia's shots. Santana dances around on the outside, circling left and parrying with his palms turned out. Uppercut to the body by Garcia. Santana keeps circling and blocking, emitting a few right jabs. Chopping left by Santana as Garcia ducks in on him. Wrestling against the ropes. Body shots by Garcia, ripping away. Right upper-hook by Santana. Garcia circles in close around Santana and tosses right hands with his left held low.

    10-9 Santana

Garcia comes in wide enough to be perfect to counter.

I'm impressed by Santana. He needs to work on his balance, but he's fighting in a very difficult style to master. His hands, though, are fast and accurate with good timing and decent power.

    Round 2

Santana is leaning back to dodge Garcia's right, and throws a PERFECT STRAIGHT LEFT PULL-COUNTER, DROPPING GARCIA!! Johnny rolls over to his side and hoists up, moving in and tying up. Santana spins and dumps him on the canvas, no KD. Big lefts by Santana, thrown straight and as uppercuts. Garcia jabs tentatively while circling to his left, still without lifting his guard. BIG LEFT HAND BY SANTANA!! Garcia grabs the top rope and supports himself on it. There is no KD ruled, but there should have been. Santana stalks and measures out a range-finding right jab. Garcia watches from the outside. Double uppercut to the body by Santana. Garcia feints a jab while stepping to his left and tosses a weak right hand, blocked. Santana mugs while standing in front of him and slips a jab with a turn of his head.

    10-8 Santana

    20-17 Santana

That was a hell of a left to the body. Perfect.

    Round 3

Santana is loading up on the left hand, catching Garcia at range. Left uppercut snuck in to the midsection during a distanced exchange by Santana. Garcia tries to plant his feet and jab, then getting up on his toes to track off laterally. Santana slaps his left arm down against the top of Garcia's head from outside while maneuvering around him with his guard up and body turned. Garcia is caught lunging in by a straight left counter. Uppercuts by Garcia working his way in. Counter right hook by Santana from against the ropes. Wild body work by Garcia, head down.

    10-9 Santana

    Shutout for Santana.

He almost pulled a Lara choke hold at the end of the round. They must teach that in Cuba.

Santana controlled the round beautiful counter lefts to the body, but Garcia has figured something out late in the round. Santana doesn't like pressure and isn't really good enough on his feet yet to get out of traps and stay off the ropes and Garcia got some monsterous body shots in.

    30 - 26 Santana
