Just wondering, when you throw the right hand, do you throw the right hand the way Canelo does, short and from the shoulder with no windup:

Or the way Julian Jackson does it, with a slight windup and snap at the end:

Practically a wind-up only hurts you. Loading up like that telegraphs and decreases snap but allows for more weight to follow through the punch.

    Wasted inches are wasted time.

It seems like JJ has a fair bit of snap at the end of his right hand though.

Right, I'd argue the wind-up isn't part of the punch itself. He's throwing it straight from point A to B with speed and efficiency like Canelo is, but he's simply habituated to dropping backwards a bit first. Shifting weight onto the right foot is sometimes part of it.

Cheers, thats what it seemed like. I'm going to try both approaches and see which style works for me.

Just remember that landing the punch is more important than making it heavy :good

Textbook punch by Arguello, thrown from the shoulder but he does get some rotation into the shot as well.
